That seems like a pretty sure bet to me. I feel like Anthony has said something about wanting to find a way to play every year (or as much as possible).
I don’t need to see TSOAF again (though that will rad for anyone who missed the last tour) but I do want all of those openers.
Just noticed that… Def more of a B/C market tour, but the fact that it’s hitting the Midwest and has no Chicago-area show might be a sign
Gojira and Loathe in Wisconsin a few days after Riot… Edit: They have Canadian dates during Riot so likely out
Yeah, I would say a lock but the only date they have open is Sunday and they would have to go Montreal, Chicago, London. That would be like 4 shows in a row… not likely.
Here’s my take on the 2025 lineup, which is a mix of wishlist and likely playing. This also assumes Riot will go a little bigger this year. If we’re getting Blink and Green Day as headliners, then I do think we’re getting a reunion as the 3rd headliner. But the only way I see Green Day playing is if Operation Ivy also plays. Bands I should have included, but too lazy to edit: Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg Prince Daddy & the Hyena Spanish Love Songs Knuckle Puck Subhumans The Damned Ministry
I do still think there is going to be an “indie” day. I can see Blink, Green Day, and Deftones at the top, sure, but I also think they will maybe diversify the top three a bit more. Also as I said before with Lolla not booking like any rock, Pitchfork done, and the “indie” day doing well last year, I think it will happen again this year.
I’m still having a hard time seeing Deftones as the Saturday headliner. Not that it’s impossible but they would go from Atlanta to Louisville to Chicago over the weekend. Just seems like a lot.
You are way overthinking this. It’s actually not that bad. It’s like 6 hours from Atlanta to Louisville and 4 hours from Louisville to Chicago. It’s totally possible to do all 3 fests 3days in a row. Other bands over the years have had way worse or way more weird routing. Also I bet there’s at least a few bands that play all 3 festivals.
That has the potential to be a miserable show if the weather is bad/cold. Most years they stop booking shows in September Edit:it’s early October so it might not be that bad but still
The Deftones are technically feasible but I'm gonna go ahead and guess they won't be on the line-up. The spring 2025 tour routing didn't have more than two shows in a row. There's a couple instances on the European run where there's three in a row... But that's probably to make Europe more viable. Given the year that they've had and the money they're liking making on all those other fests... I'm just not sure the hustle would be worth it for them? The logistics aren't bad, other bands have done it or whatever but it just feels like too much of a hassle given the context surrounding it and how the band typically operates at this stage in their careers. LCD Soundsystem feels more likely to me. Could see a day that was LCD/Vampire Weekend as psuedo co-headliners or something.
That is really weird. My theories are 1. They were initially booked to play Riot but a deal couldn’t be made or plans fell through 2. They are on Riot and playing Saturday, immediately booking it to Milwaukee after their set 3. They’re out lmao
Week after Riot Fest…aside from the possibility of Julien and Torres which we discussed, The Last Dinner Party would be very fun. They are on the Shaky Knees lineup too I believe.
The Struts are out. Chicago in August. Anberlin are in the mix. That Never Take Friendship Personal tour skips Chicago. Granted, it ends well before Riot... Wouldn't be the first time that band has had a singular festival date. Maybe with Christian McAnberlin or whatever the old singer's name is too?
