Run The Jewels have done it, I would not say Killer Mike per se as he hasnt played solo at Riot. From the top of my head I would add: Linda Lindas and 100 Gecs. There are some Chicago bands Im surprised havent done the 3, like Beach Bunny not playing Pitchfork, Dehd not playing Riot or American Football not playing Lolla.
Googling lineups I found that Modest Mouse, Vic Mensa, Spoon, Tierra Whack, M.I.A., Health and Twin Peaks have done the 3 as well! Pavement, Guided By Voices and The Breeders kinda (Pavement did Lolla in 1995 and both GBV and Breeders did Lolla 1994 at Tinley Park) On a funny note, Death Grips has been scheduled to play the 3, but cancelled Lolla in 2013 and Pitchfork in 2014. EDIT: Just noticed Best Coast have played all as well. Also it seems GZA might have done all 3, but cant find much information about him at Lolla, just a site with videos that were taken down.
You're right! They didnt play Lolla at Tinley Park in 1995 but they did play Lolla in 2006 at Grant Park!
I don't listen to NOFX at all, but I loved the NOFX World stage. I saw about 7 sets there, and loved the almost a "festival within a festival" concept. I'd like to see a similar curated stage dedicated to an artist/band next year and there's some really cool ones that are possible: Castle Danzig stage: Danzig, The Misfits, Samhain Mike Patton: Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas Davey Havok: AFI, Son of Sam, Blaqk Audio or Dreamcar Iggy Pop: Solo, The Stooges, The Trolls Keith Morris: Circle Jerks, Off!, Black Flag Tim Timebomb: Operation Ivy, Rancid, The Transplants Les Claypool: Primus, Oysterhead, The Claypool Lennon Delirium John Reis: Drive Like Jehu, Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes Paul Weller: Solo, The Jam, The Style Council Bauhaus: Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, Love & Rockets It's a wild speculation, but hopefully at least a couple of those bands are booked for next year.
I love the idea of a John Reis stage, but since Rick died last year, DLJ or Hot Snakes can’t happen, sadly
That would be amazing. A NIN curated stage would be high-quality. Oh geez, that is a bummer. If that was not the case, a John Reis stage sounds like something Riot would actually do if it could.
Okay so I had no idea that Riot Mike said in an interview a few weeks ago that a notable reunion is happening in 2026. Did anyone else catch this? It was in a Q101 interview. Who do we think it is? If it was already talked about and I missed it oops sorry lol
I just saw the discussion on the FB group yesterday. I think it's the Smiths and Mike is just really convinced he can still make it happen despite Morrissey and Johnny fighting in the press again. If not them, I guess Op Ivy?
He actually said the conversations started in 2016. Here is the exact quote: "I think in 2 years there's going to be an awesome reunion... it's amazing. But that first conversation happened in 2016. He said if he'd ever do it, it would be with me.”
Someone on Reddit pitched White Zombie as the reunion and that would make sense considering Rob Zombie did Astro Creep 2000 in 2016. I'm honestly struggling to think of possible reunions at this point…
I don’t mean this as a negative, because I really don’t know enough about Rob Zombie, but is that a reunion that would be important or that people would care about?
I don’t think it is the Dead Kennedys, but wasn’t it about Riot Fest 2016 that the stories came out that the they had an offer that everyone other than Jello said they would accept? Maybe D.H. passing away has finally convinced Jello? Seems about as likely as The Smiths.
