I think them getting people to second guess what level they are trolling are the friends we made along the way…

That's maybe the only decent April Fool's joke I've seen today. And quite literally because it could either way, with the line-up in April or in May, and the joke still works.

I feel like Lambrini Girls may be playing…super buzzy UK band, sold out show at the Empty Bottle that sold out way in advance, probably doing a second leg in the US this year, seems like a solid bet.

I’ve been wanting SPARKS for years and seeing this glimpse of hope has me fucking amped.

also it looks like it would line up to be the same day as weird al which is perfect. If yall haven’t seen the sparks documentary check it out ASAP

I said it before and I’ll say it again. A Weird Al-curated stage with stuff that he actually enjoys would be such a cool move.

Imagine a stage with Al, Sparks, Ben Folds and They Might Be Giants. I would be glued to that stage all day

between talk of sex pistols and pogues, seeing a lot of discourse about people being angry these bands having the nerve to tour with out their original line ups... sex pistols a i get a little since the members are alive, just not on good terms, but people mad at the pogues for having the gall to want to earn a living and not just packing it in becasue shane passed away is so weird to me.

on another note, adding sparks in with those other 2 bands, we are trending towards one of the oldest riot fest line ups ever, hahaha (especially if we also get weird al and green day, they aint spring chickens either)

I have never heard of Sparks but everyone seems very hype about them so I guess I'll check them out!

I saw them at a festival in 2018 and it was such a fun set! Even if the albums doesnt do much for you, seeing them live is a must

Strange takes from those people. These two bands are strong examples of exactly how to do this correctly. You're sticking to the original band members where you can... Or pulling in somebody with massive respect for the band who can do it justice. I might even argue that Frank Carter will 100% be a better frontperson for them at this point for a multitude of reasons. Sex Pistols with the original singer would be a huge "LOL" moment given his current political takes...

But it's not a 1:1 every time. Like, had Rage toured without Zach under their given name it would have felt pretty whack. The vast majority of the audience didn't notice or care at the live shows when Matt Skiba was in Blink. Hot Water Music has been touring without Chris Wollard for half-a-decade now, and not only are fans fully aware... They are 100% on-board with his replacement!

For me, it's this weird equation of the way people feel about the band and individuals involved coupled with what that person contributed and how everybody feels toward one another.

What's wild in all this to me, though, is that I bet a bunch of those people are just totally cool with the current iteration of the Dead Kennedys or Black Flag. LOL

Sparks would be a sick get. I've been meaning to watch the documentary about them that Edgar Wright did.
