Sex Pistols announced October tour dates without Chicago:

The 2025 tour is currently scheduled to conclude Oct. 16 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The band will hit Washington; Philadelphia; Brooklyn, New York; Montreal; Toronto; Cleveland; Detroit; Minneapolis; Denver; Seattle and San Francisco. Additional tour dates will be announced later.

Pre-sale opens April 2 and 3. Tickets go on sale April 4 at 10 a.m. local time.

 

The full routing is up on the linked web site. Not only is there no Chicago, but it starts on 9/16 in Texas and the next listed date is 9/23 in Washington DC at the 9:30 Club.

Fair to call Riot Fest a "soft lock" based on all this. Also worth noting that it would technically be an album play based on the press release!

 

Wonder if this puts that Green Day tour rumor to sleep

 

I'd imagine so. It at least knocks the likelihood down a bunch. But it also might be one of those things where there was a bit of truth behind it... The Iggy Pop element of that rumor always made sense to me for a number of different reasons.

So maybe it's true that Green Day has a fall tour in the works with Iggy Pop opening. And there's a festival date or two that the Sex Pistols happen to be on... Then again, the Pistols also say they have more dates TBA.

So anything can happen, I guess. I just want another Green Day show in my life ASAP is all I know. I don't really care about the Sex Pistols regardless of whose singing. LOL

That rumor was simply based on the riot fest clue, so I don't think it was ever happening

They’re playing theaters on this tour. Def not.

If it was a full OG lineup with Johnny Rotten, then maybe. But def not with Frank

 

Could see Sex Pistols either as a side stage headliner or playing before Green Day or Blink on main

 

I don’t know if I would have gone to their own show, but I will definitely watch at least part of their set at Riot Fest.

 

When they initially announced the UK shows I thought they’d headline on name alone, but now I agree that they’re last on the second stage before Green Day or Blink. Probably “above the fold” with the actual headliner on the poster too.

 

Here’s a “file under ‘maybe.’” Pulp is coming back to the states in September for two shows in LA with LCD Soundsystem. Makes me wonder if they’ll do more shows around this. But they could be in play since Riot is only a week before

 

Do we think Turnstile could be in play?

 

Brand New presumably out - Rosemont show in June.

I’m sure they got an offer from Riot and will inevitably play one of these years if they keep touring. I don’t expect the festival to have any qualms about booking them, unfortunately.

 

I could have sworn Jason said riot threw the bag at them for last year or the year prior

 

I know what’s-his-name who ran Bamboozle tried getting them and they declined. Not sure about Riot tho
