So right now we're looking at the possibility of:

    Blink 182 or Green Day
    Vampire Weekend / LCD Soundsystem
Deftones / Bring Me the Horizon

Looking sick as hell so far

I actually didn’t consider them, but The Jesus Lizard is out. Playing a headlining show in Chicago in November

Some fun background on how the Laura Jane Grace/Catbite set came together for Riot last year in the Catbite interview on the main page of the site!

Fun to learn that they didn't get the offer until after Supernova announced and that they almost said "no" but opted to do it because it was Laura and Riot Fest who kinda started the whole thing!

Definitely one of my favorite Riot sets ever.

Pointless anecdote alert - was listening to a comedy podcast yesterday that ive been listening to since like 2009 (never not funny with jimmy pardo) and he was having trouble thinking of a female comedian who started the riot LA comedy fest, and so he had his side kick try and look it up. one of the other hosts said to the sidekick 'google riot fest founder' (forgetting to say the 'LA comedy' portion of the name they were looking for) and my ears immediately perked up.

15 seconds later the sidekick chimes in with "are you thinking of some guys named sean mc-key-ho and mike perter-shin (stuggling to pronounce the names)" and they responded to him with a what the fuck are you talking about? and then a few seconds later goes "oops nope, they do a punk festival in chicago", and never have i had such a random and brief worlds collide moment, felt like i had to have been one of the only people who listen to that show who understood every bit of that confusion

Had my calendar go off to remind me to check for Deftones tickets. Over $100 for resale, yeesh. Guess I hope/expect they're at Riot Fest then.

Hopefully I don’t like whoever is headlining Saturday so I can dip out and go see Ethel Cain

The timing of the Pup/Jeff date in Boston works out great for me! And it's in my favorite "bigger" venue in the city.

If I wind up going to Riot, though, that Garbage tour would be happening on the day I fly out. So that's kind of a bummer. But if I don't go to Riot, at least I'll have a fun show to go to? Haha.

I think we might have our first lock…

Superchunk dates dropped today. First leg of the tour is east coast/midwest which ends on September 18th in Kalamazoo. No Chicago date…

I'd say the Pogues are a lock, too

I saw Superchunk last time they played Riot, it was a fun set.

Also I think we have got four locks altogether, the two mentioned above, Rilo Kiley and Weird Al.

Blink 182 feels like a lock now more than ever. Give me Jawbreaker, The Wonder Years, and Set Your Goals too PLEASE.

Jimmy hasn't played since 2022, right? They're probably in too, I imagine.

Thinking about this clue now I think it implies a
    Trio…..alkaline trio
    Two…..blink 182
Three…..idk it could be Green Day or vampire weekend. Both bands have three members. Or something as simple as Marvelous 3. Idk! Riot spec season is fun!

it’s just a bunch of play on words but it kind of makes sense now.

  23. Yeah, you’ll never hear me complain about more chances to see Jimmy but I think they’re out this year.

Blink is fun but also an easy skip for me if there’s a conflict (presumably Weird Al if they’re both on Friday). I’ve seen Green Day before but only from a lawn so it would be rad to get a bit closer. It feels like they wouldn’t have both in the same year but at the same time both of their schedules are starting to line up.

I’m assuming VW are out - I kind of wonder if they were in talks as a Pitchfork headliner before this year’s fest got canned.

Considering it’s Riot’s 20th anniversary, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were like “fuck it, we ball!” and get both Green Day and Blink

It would also be cool if Green Day’s stage was like a curated NorCal punk stage. Jawbreaker mid-day and AFI right before GD
