Vampire Weekend is overseas the weekend before Lolla and then again in mid August, it’s very unlikely they would come back to the states just for one festival.
if you were booking riotfest and told you got weird al to headline a stage, how you filling out the rest of the stage that day? i dont think id go for any other comedy acts, but rather fun/quirky/silly stuff... feel like devo and me first and the gimmi gimmies would be locks for me, maybe a matt & kim, or andrew wk.. a bowling for soup or ludo perhaps.
As long as fucking Puddles is not there. Truly the most horrifying and deeply unsettling "entertainment" I've ever seen.
GWAR feels like an obvious pick. I like your general vibe of fun/quirky/silly. Most of your suggestions are spot-on! I'd also throw in MC Lars, MegaRan, the Ergs, Nerf Herder, and Mac Sabbath as potentials.
Jawbreaker just posted a video that says "2025 TBA Soon" Wouldn't be shocked if they either did Riot again or skipped it to do a headliner
Minus The Bear is teasing a reunion and it’s apparently a 20-year Menos El Oso tour. I could see that being a Riot album-play
Green Day headlining with Jawbreaker earlier in the day on that stage would have made 18 year-old me's head explode. This would be a really solid 4pm Roots/Radicals stage snag!
Seeing where they are on the LTL lineup, if RF got Bring Me The Horizon would they headline their day?
I guess I really only ask because it was only 2-3 years ago that I saw them open up for Fall Out Boy and they just headlined last year. But I’m not sure where else you would put them.
Green Day, Vampire Weekend, Bring Me the Horizon and Weird Al already has me the most interested in attending in YEARS
Wouldn't rule them out unless they have an exclusivity with DWP as far as festivals go. Which we probably won't know from the poster. Feels like a coin toss to me. EDIT: The poster says "part 01 of 02." Chicago just might be on the next run along with east coast dates. Saw the Offspring coming but... Disappointing about the other two!
I'd lock them in for both BFF and the Fest this year. Where exactly would they land on a Riot Fest schedule? Somewhere in the 2-5pm range depending on who all else is on that stage.
They could easily close one of the smaller stages, or second to last before Jawbreaker or someone like that.
Really? I'm a little surprised by that, TBH. I think they're amazing and there's hype around them but I always felt like it was pretty niche and limited. The last time they were in Boston was for the album play and it was in a ~900 cap room that didn't sell out. Have they had a bump in recent years? Or is it just based purely on the fact that it would be another "reunion"? (Not calling you into question here, just legit curious! Band goes hard and was super influential so... They deserve it.)
