Bayside splitting the nights directly in the middle of my two favorite albums of theirs, and being at HOB, guarantees I will not go to those shows lol.
Given the timing and another recent IG post, I'm assuming they'll be announced as a Warped Tour act tomorrow but... I could also see them popping on Riot. I'm pretty shocked, TBH. Just last summer Karina was talking about how the band was on good terms and receiving offers, but it never felt right or "worth it" given their age and other priorities. "Opening for Devo in Japan" was the example she shared as what WOULD be worth it, hah... But I'm wondering if spending the year on the road with NOFX as much as they did changed her mindset on that. I have one other guess that could potentially motivate a Riot appearance but it's too tinfoil hat to say aloud. LOL
I was definitely wishing for a DHC reunion but didn’t think we would actually get it. Hopefully Karina and Riot Fest discussed it last year while she was there for the whole weekend.
Well, apparently they have another announcement. And they’ve confirmed it’s not Supernova. Given the timing, I’m assuming the announcement is a run of shows. Maybe east/west coast dates around Warped… But still leaves plenty of opportunity for Riot in the fall because that would leave the Midwest untouched. I am also wondering if Warped convinced Reel Big Fish to dust off again now… Too good to be true, probably?
Update: Looks like Dance Hall Crashers will not be on Riot. They're replying to that teaser post on FB saying they are a "one festival band."
Well good thing they have only announced the Warped Tour so far, not the Warped Festival! /s That is definitely disappointing.
Dinosaur Jr. are doing some Without A Sound anniversary shows this year. So far only Austin Psych Fest and a one-off in London have been announced. Maybe Riot is an option?
They did just play two nights in Chicago and they have a strong tendency to hit up cities sparingly these days. But I wouldn't mind being wrong here (obviously).
God, I stink. For some reason I thought that was like last month... But I was thinking of the CA shows. My bad.
I’m always up for seeing the Bouncing Souls. They seem like they should be more of a Riot regular than they are. But they played the very first one, so it would be cool to have them back for the anniversary.
I feel like the timing on that means it'll probably be a pretty telling clue, right? As opposed to the vague-ass ones from last year.
Makes me feel like they're doing what they did with Slayer last year and announcing a headliner first well in advance?
Boring guess if that's the clue: Knuckle Puck. They've got a song called "Groundhog Day" and haven't played in a few years.
