I did a real 10-second roller coaster reading that admat. No Chicago date! 9/22 off! All the way out in British Columbia, damn.
I was about to ask, did they ever end up coming back? I know most of the bands that had to drop in 2021 wound up on 2022 or 2023. But I know a few (Pixies, Dinosaur Jr.) never made it back
I'm guessing it'll be a teaser video or two. In the meantime... Somebody on Reddit posted the following: "I've got a hot scoop but I promised I wouldn't tell and it's killing me inside." Apparently there's a hint in there. People seem to be guessing it's Fall Out Boy but I can't sort out why anybody would think that based on that post? Looking at the person's post history on Reddit they seem reasonably informed and logical so it would be a weird deviation for such a post but... I dunno...
A Take This To Your Grave album play would probably be the 4th or 5th most interesting option FOB could do tbh but I guess at least it'd mean they'd be open to playing the other albums sometime
It's kind of a baller move to be the only band of like, 60 on that bill to not be playing an album. An even more baller move would be Riot Fest convincing them to do so and getting the exclusive. That's not happening. But it's a fun thought. Hah. EDIT: And it's mostly a "fun thought" because I really want to see WWYF fail and that would be step 1 in that direction.
What if they're not doing album plays at WWWY so they can perform unique sets each night (+ likely cover more than one album in full over both nights) Doing a standard greatest hits festival set with maybe one "rarity" if that, would be much less fun.
Red Scare announced a 20th anniversary showcase at the Beat Kitchen on 9/13 and 9/14. This takes a few smaller Chicago-based punk acts out (the Methadones, the Bollweevils) as well as Brendan Kelly solo. I'm super jealous of the night 2 line-up. I've been dying to see the Methadones again.
