Wasn’t there one posted by some site online one year that had Madness on it or did I dream that? And of course there was the one that confirmed that Bauhaus was the mystery headliner that never happened.
That's entirely possible and I'm just forgetting. Man, I wish I had the foresight to save that image when it dropped... The line-up came late that year too. And it was all Peter Murphy's fault... Rude.
The fact that this has more of a one-off vibe and that Waxahatchee has played Chicago twice already this year... I'm feeling like that makes them less likely. But definitely still in play.
It’s possible she plays, but I don’t think her sound fits the Riot vibe now. However, if they booked some other Americana/Country acts this year then I could see it.
It's so interesting to me that the Instagram images promoting the return of HFStival (9/21) have an image of Gwen Stefani dead-center toward the bottom and there's like, zero chatter about No Doubt potentially performing. Not directly Riot-related but I find it refreshing to see a scenario where people aren't assuming everything is a tease or a hint. Haha.
"Saosin all-but-confirmed via their own comment section likes." But I checked the Saosin IG account and Cove likes a whole lot of comments in spurts... I wouldn't read into it. There's some other interesting stuff happening in that thread, though. Nothing "new" perse but a few things that might settle some folks if there's any anxieties. The Riot Reddit person confirming that Slayer is still on (some weirdos speculating they were out and being replaced; obviously not). They also suggested that people "take note" of the early line-up drop via the app. Wonder if they might drop some hints via the app on Tuesday evening? They definitely sent the push notification out a few minutes before the announcement was posted elsewhere today. The Douglass Park Permit is listed as tentative but "in good standing." They had to remove the initial IG post because of a copyright claim? LOL
Of course they are all getting worked up thinking Slayer cancelled. Instead of considering that there was no point in promoting only Slayer since you can’t even buy tickets right now. I swear the sky is constantly falling for them.
Not sure any of that put Saosin as a lock but I went and looked and he did like a comment specifically about Riot. So, I would put it as very likely in my book.
Yeah, but he also liked comments specifically about playing Italy, Brazil, and various other cities and regions. They might obviously be playing but... I don't think the comments are necessarily an indicator. I'm gonna wait and see how the weekend and Monday shake out. Hah. I think we'll see a bigger artist tease some sort of an announcement on Tuesday or Wednesday that'll be an indicator for at least one of them. But... I think my #2 headliner prediction at this point is Fall Out Boy. Paramore is in the mix too but that radio festival date makes them much less likely.
Beck and Fall Out Boy seems most likely. With Beck having played in 2018 it would be nice to have a more “fresher” headliner but it’s not a terrible choice for a (more recent) repeat.
And you wonder why I nearly fought someone in line last year for saying "We shouldn't give a fuck about the park, let everyone in" on Sunday during the downpours.
She was a nightmare. Wouldn't stop bitching about it for at least 30 minutes before I got so fed up with it I told her to stop. And I get it, I also didn't get to see bands I went for. That's life.
That is such a brutally terrible take. And like, for what? Fucking Microwave and Free Throw? The Smoking Popes? Hotline TNT? I love the Smoking Popes. Microwave and Free Throw are sick too. But like, come the fuck on... LOL It's not like it's an exclusive performance or anything particularly special in the grand scheme of things. Not that it's not a bad take, regardless, but y'know. Context and perspective.
still one of my favorite memories from last year was me and @Tifoil both having early entry cheat codes on sunday and being 2 of the 8 people who saw Thursdays first song in its entirety
