Give me Generation Sex instead! Edit: Don’t get me wrong though. I would definitely watch that, but doubt it is happening.
There's honestly nothing I would want to watch less. Haha. There's been like, three points in my life where I've tried convincing myself that band didn't just sound like godawful trash but... They've just never clicked with me. Anyway. They're pushing the club shows via Instagram today with no Twitter activity still. I think Andrew might be onto something! (Fast forward to 20 minutes from this post when Riot Fest Presents posts another 4-6 shows that have nothing to do with the festival beyond taking out another 4-6 potential undercard acts because all the shows are in September and October.)
Excuse me, but this isn't nothing. It's... A thing. That they retweeted for some reason? EDIT: It's nothing.
I am assuming if Chicago/Riot Fest is crossed out on Laura's lineup then the lineup is not coming tomorrow.
Would later this week be likely? I find it odd she’d post dates with Riot crossed out on it only a couple days before Riot is actually announced
Later this week is possible for sure. It really does not matter for me when the lineup is announced because I (and a handful of us on here) live here so just have to worry about getting tickets, but the later it gets into June I understand out of town folks frustrations. Some people use Riot Fest as their "one big trip of the year, lineup depending" (so either plan a trip for Riot or a trip elsewhere and need time to book elsewhere if Riot is not to their liking this year), some people have to request time off early, some people have childcare/pet care they need to get sorted on the earlier side, and to be in limbo about what to do can be a bit frustrating. Basically, there are a lot of factors at play that when seeing people a bit frustrated at the wait, I understand (as long as people are being sane about it).
The day starts out okay for me, but then all hell breaks loose once ST starts. The ST/Sublime/Jesus Lizard/Bad Religion/Joyce Manor overlap can go fuck itself
I mean it is golden voice who has the the worst rules when it comes to other things announcing stuff. There’s gonna be some cross over so they could have reached out to riot and said hey wait until after our fest happens to announce your line up
Turnstile and Power Trip is actually a really fucked up conflict even if it’s only partial. Bad Religion and Joyce sucks too and I’m probably one of the only people who would care about Aquabats and Bronx. Other than that not too bad for me Stoked Laura is on. Just saw her and the new band last week and it fucking ruled
I don’t see why Riot would agree to that. And most of those bands have other shows announced, so why would Riot be the only one affected?
Riot could be considered a competing fest. I mean theres really no other reason/explanation on why they are waiting other then that
It has come out on the 29th before and is a week later this year. So that is explanation enough. A lot of the top bands for No Values are already out. I don't think they are holding it back because Sublime, The Jesus Lizard, and maybe Iggy Pop are playing a fest in California.
It's not like there's any major surprise gets on the No Values bill. Most of the artists already have tour dates announced (including other festivals). What's interesting to me is that, as far as we know, things are going according to schedule and they've been planning to release around this time of year for a bit now. I'm still holding out hope for this week... RE: the Laura Jane Grace poster it's entirely possible that she's got two different versions of the poster and, unlike most punks over the age of 40, she knew not to post the one with Riot Fest listed. LOL
It's usually my "one big trip" but this year it'll be an addition to a few other, bigger vacations. Haha. I've been saving accordingly, to be sure I can go if I want to, but I'm getting a little anxious about booking a flight more than anything. I'm pretty chill about it, in part because with one exception, most of the artists that have leaked are either not my thing or I'll be seeing near me anyway. What gets me is the festivals I've opted to not attend this year holding out for Riot but... Whatever. Haha. I just want the line-up to come so people can stop making the same tired joke about the line-up being announced the day after or whatever. Some of the scheduling conflicts are definitely rough, but I'm with you on a lot of them... I'm probably one of the few who would be upset about the Aquabats/Bronx, TSOL/Scowl, Skeletones/MSPaint, the Lawrence Arms/Damned, and Turnstile/L7 conflicts. LOL
So can we please also get catbite and the op Ivy set too? It would fit in with her history of trying to get Riot Fest to reunite Op Ivy.
As cool as that would be I almost hope they don't do it and keep it a Supernova exclusive. As I understand it that pairing was the festival's brain child and I kinda feel like it would be shitty of Riot (another independent festival that is 10x larger) to swoop in and book the same exact thing as it would probably influence a not-insignificant number of people (for a festival of their size) to attend Riot over Supernova. If Riot were to book it, all's fair in festival bookings and war or whatever, and I wouldn't necessarily judge them for it... But it would bum me out a bit. Not enough to not go to Riot but y'know. Along those same lines I'm curious to know if Fest attempted booking it and were shot down... They do cover sets every year anyway. That would have been an undeniably natural fit.
Not sure if this makes Paramore more or less likely. Also Gwen Stefani is performing there, so probs also rules No Doubt out.
