They actually did come to mind for me… But I think that if they don’t do it this year, they’ll be back next year
I stand by my feeling that Alkaline Trio would be a really solid add as direct support for the NOFX stage.
JUDAS PRIEST To Embark On Second U.S. Leg Of 'Invincible Shield' Tour In September This wouldn’t excite me at all, mainly because I don’t really care about these older metal acts (Slayer also does nothing for me lol) but it seems like a possibility now.
If anything, the article makes it seem less likely to me. He says they plan on doing the west coast and Texas, and notes that they’ve only gone as far west as Chicago on this current tour. Granted, there was no Chicago date (it was Rosemont, IL) it still feels like it wouldn’t be in the cards based on this.
Jane's Addiction and Love & Rockets are out. Playing Chicago on 9/24. These are the non-bookings that hit the hardest. So close, yet so far.
I assumed they were out with the tour announcement coming this morning. But of course someone on Facebook had to post that with saying that Riot Fest may be searching for headliners. Some people don’t seem to understand how many bands exist.
I was half-expecting an announcement with a gap on Riot weekend and no Chicago date. But I guess I should have learned better by this point. Haha. The "there's no headliners left" discourse in other corners of the Internet wouldn't be so bad if it weren't paired with people claiming radius clauses don't exist, etc. Hah. And in this scenario, I actually feel like Jane wouldn't be the "bigger" headliner anyway...
This one surprises me. On the midwest during Riot but not playing. Both bands have played before and would cool to have them back.
Yeah the day between Rochester Hills and Milwaukee would’ve easily set them up to play Saturday at Riot. That’s a bummer
Oh, that's what I'm saying! But I could see a scenario where a band of their size/legacy would swing for that, Riot says "no, but you can close out the stage next to that one" and then the band declines altogether. Or maybe Riot just has a banger line-up anyway, and none of this ever happened. I'd just take it to mean they have the 2010s Warped Tour-style slot filled by some other bands...
This definitely happens most years. It takes a lot to recognize that your band no longer can fill the venues they previously have. Look at what's happening with The Black Keys.
Postal Service played The Salt Shed a week after Riot last year. But I guess there was more demand for them than for Janes Addiction
Plus wasn’t that show put on by Riot too? I think Jane’s/L&R is a different promoter, so restrictions would probably apply. …unless…
