I’m assuming they’re headlining Wicker Park fest that weekend and this is one of those bonus shows the headliners usually do.
Also, FEST was announced today. Don’t recall the amount of typical crossover that happens, but something to think about…
Joyce Manor is playing Never Hungover Again in full for Fest, that seems like a no-brainer for Riot Fest Also, Candy Hearts is doing an album play? Had no idea they were back. I can't see them playing after 2PM at Riot but that would be a fun get
There's usually sporadic crossover to some extent but not a ton. Looking at this, though, and thinking about other tour dates a few of the bigger acts are already probably out: Hot Water Music, the Bouncing Souls, Joyce Manor, and Ted Leo. But there's a bunch of hte lower-tier acts that could pop-up (plus Matt & Kim and Streetlight).
My picks from the Fest lineup would be Broadway Calls, Candy Hearts, and Further Seems Forever. The latter hasn't played Chicago at all since reuniting.
You're right. LOL. I fell victim to an old/outdated web site... When you visit it still pops-up the tour dates from '23. My B. Edited my post to remove them.
It does, but JM is opening for Gaslight here in August. That said, it’d be a worthy exception to the radius clause.
I don't think Joyce will play because of the gaslight tour but I assume they'll do a NHA tour at the end of the year
I have literally never listened to, or heard of, Superdrag before but my friend (who does not live in Chicago) said I have to go so he can live vicariously through me for that show and said he would even buy my ticket lol
They're great. They’re a power pop group from the 90’s (think of stuff in the vein of Weezer, The Rentals, That Dog, etc.) that had their peak in the mid-90’s and only one minor hit. Regretfully Yours is a fantastic album
Bad news: Underoath is out, they're playing Salt Shed in November Good news: Descendents / Circle Jerks are in! Playing in the Midwest right before the festival!
This could lend some credence to NOFX potentially playing two days. Both bands have been direct support for them repeatedly on this last run... Alternately, I could see one of them sharing a stage with Sum-41.
A lot of this is covered by Lolla or Pitchfork but a couple that stand out - Julien Baker and Soccer Mommy.
Bleachers as well. It's sold out at the Salt Shed (outdoors). He's played before, I could see it happening if he doesn't want to finish the tour at MSG but that may be his desire.
The Underoath tour is a gonna be a good one. They’re only chasing safety in full every night. 2nd set after which is fan voted where every song from every album is available to be played
