i think we already knew The Roots were out, playing Ravina this year, but they just announced Arrested Development & Digable planets are opening (damn, i wanted DP again)
The Ohio is for lovers lineup was announced and is a few weeks before riot. I could see some cross over
Fall out boy. System of a Down and slayer for headliners this year. I think we get 2 metal headliners this year
Just a feeling/guess. Process of elimination of who’s already announced shows and who will be active this year
I don’t buy there being two metal headliners. To have stages to fit the theme, you would have to have way more metal acts that Riot Fest has booked in a year. But I also have no clue who the third headliner will be.
Someone on reddit last year was adamant MCR had no plans for 2024 except When We Were Young and one more festival. They were fighting hard against people claiming they had more (If they were legit) Almost everything else has been announced. Maybe it was Adjacent and just fell through (maybe it's that Pittsburgh festival that LN are apparently putting on) but food for thought. When We Were Young also announced then as "only 2024 performance playing the black parade" when they could've said only 2024 performance if they weren't planning something else. Might seem too soon but the fest does have a strong working relationship with their agent. Food for thought. The band did play almost all of Revenge at one of their LA shows and it is the 20th anniversary...
After what happened last time I don’t think they will ever be booked again at Riot Fest. I don’t think the band was too pleased with how the festival was run, they grossly oversold tickets (and I imagine they would garner the same demand in 2024) and it does seem too soon.
Money speaks though. They could always include stipulations such as sub dividing the crowd, increased security or capping sales at a certain number if they wanted. LS dunes have a couple festivals (louder than life, aftershock) announced but other than that the members schedules look open until when we were young. Idk seems more (or as) likely than some of the possibilities people bring up haha
Money absolutely does talk, that is true, and maybe they want a do over from last time. However, I think if we are getting Fall Out Boy this year there won’t be another pop punk headliner which MCR would fall under, but that’s only if they got FOB.
I still don’t understand why in 2021 they made the greatest possible stage setup to accommodate large crowds at the main stages… only to ditch it the very next year when they overfilled the park with rabid MCR fans.
Maybe true, but also having both of them would convince pretty much everyone to get a weekend ticket instead of a day pass even if zero interest in Slayer. Not sure what the demographic crossover is like but MCR would probably be more palatable to Slayer fans than FOB so there's that too.
For the majority of the years it’s been a 3 day fest the 2 main stages have always been next to each other. (Every year since 2015) I Don’t know what the reason for them changing it in 2021 was
I see zero chance of MCR being back this soon. I won’t say they will never come back but to do so two years later feels rushed and unnecessary. I do wish they’d do something, though, like release some music. Their reunion has felt very odd.
