Can they just release the lineup already so I don’t have to open up Reddit and see garbage like this LOL https://www.reddit.com/r/RiotFest/s/JBVl2p7h2m
The fact that 1. Brand New is on the lineup 2. They have Brand New as the HEADLINER doesn’t validate it in any way
I thought it was just a troll but I think that person is posting that in earnest looking at their post history lol
Can't believe you all found my Reddit burner account. Seriously though. This is maybe one of the worst attempts at an edgelord trolling ever? Which is a shame because "Maynard wine-tasting event" is maybe one of the funniest things on a mock I've seen in a while. Also: Maynard Wine Tasting Event would be an awesome band name.
I had seen someone in that sub before claim that the headliner that fell through for 2018 (which we know was Bauhaus) was Brand New. Despite Brand New playing before that and not being a headliner. And also despite the fact that it was obvious that Riot Fest had been hoping that the unannounced headliner would still be able to play. There are too many people on that sub that seem to actually want them to reunite and play Riot Fest. It is pretty gross.
Low-key, one of my biggest fears is roasting someone from Reddit here and it actually being one of you guys. LOL
FWIW, I think the person who posted this was 100% trolling. But yeah... I'm shocked at the number of people who want that band to get back together in general let alone a fest like Riot. TBH, when I clicked that link I was unironically hoping it was going to be an updated mock by somebody in here but like, very obviously so. LOL (Not that I think either would put something together that would warrant a response like that but... The humor it all...)
Oh yeah, I think that was definitely a troll. I just needed to mention my disgust at how many on there would seriously be happy with them headlining.
Yeah that’s definitely a lock. I just read that she hinted in an interview a little while back she was coming to Chicago on this tour. She headlined Pitchfork in 2021 but I don’t think she’s quite headliner status here, so I can see her subbing. Actually, I could see her subbing for another female rock act like Hole or something.
TBH, I'd rather see them organize the artists by genre/aesthetic in general. I get that their both vaguely "rock" but it's two distinct styles from my perspective (grunge vs. artsy indie or whatever the fuck St. Vincent is). I'm getting super nitpicky with this and I'm not trying to call you out in any way... I just always cringe when festivals have a "lady" stage for lack of a better term. And it kinda made me happy in 2022 when they could have lazily thrown together a "Riot Grrl" stage and instead did it in another way that still made sense.
To be fair, her next album is very noisy and perfect to lead into Hole. She also adapts her old songs to fit the style of the tour so you can expect them to also be noisy.
No offense taken hah. Honestly I don't listen to St. Vincent that much (I def want to change that, she seems like my thing based on what I have heard) so I was just kinda making an educated guess there haha
it is a little token-y to have a 'female stage' but at the same time pairing St. Vincent up with another older big name like a tori amos or aimee mann could be really cool. or if it ends up being Hole, maybe toss garbage on there too. the cool indie side of lilith fair line ups is still a solid well of acts to pull from and had success with ani difranco, tegan & sara last year (and previously having cat power & liz phair)
Might be just a one-off, but this is coming to a casino 10 minutes from where I grew up so I'm going lmao
