They'd be right in the middle of the Riot poster, right? Probably with mid-afternoon set on Radical/Rise? Trying to gauge their placement... And Louder Than Life isn't helping because they're right between Skillet and P.O.D. on that poster.
that new emo festival in canada happening a couple weeks before riot has FOB as a headliner which strengthens the case theyll headline a day. they'll be active and in the area. id like to see a few of the undercard acts hop on rf too.
If Fall Out Boy does headline, I am curious which day it would be. I’ve been assuming that Sum 41 would be closing out a stage, but that makes less sense to me if Fall Out Boy is headlining on Friday.
The cool, fun thing about Fall Out Boy as a headliner is the mix of bands that could make sense on the Riot stage along with them. Fall Out Boy with All-American Rejects, Gym Class Heroes, Sleeping With Sirens, and Winona Fighter would be pretty sonically diverse while fully making sense. EDIT: But also, let Patrick curate some of the artists for the weekend so the Stereo can play.
no idea if this makes amyl more or less likely. no chicago date, but also a month gap from the end of the tour til riot, which is a lot for an international band. im leaning less likely, but still quietly hoping, haha
Feels like it makes them less likely. But have they recorded anything recently? The last album dropped in 2021 so they'd be due I'd think... Maybe they're recording? Or there's a new album dropping and they'll unload some headlining dates (and Riot Fest, hah) after the album announcement? Just trying to think of scenarios that might allow you to take a bit of copium! Haha. You've been wanting them on Riot for a while now!!! You definitely could. But having them close out a stage feels better to me giving that it's their last run... I will also always roll my eyes and groan at bands being lumped together just because they were on the radio/MTV at the same time. Sum-41 and Fall Out Boy are so sonically and aesthetically different. I "get it" but it bugs me. Haha.
copium for me is that i have a buddy in lawrence KS that ive been saying id visit for years now, so at least i have found my excuse to make the drive, haha
The Beths do not have a Chicago date but the routing doesn't exactly make sense for them to come back for Riot Fest.
Cake's doing a bunch of festivals and random gigs this summer... With a Texas run the week before Riot Fest. Clearly doing a bunch of fly-ins. Covering a lot of the US (broadly speaking). They hit a few surrounding states in early summer but no Illinois... Feels feasible for this year finally?
