Someone made a mock in the Facebook group and had KATE BUSH as ninth on her day and when I said she would be a headliner if she was ever booked the OP said they only put her in as filler and someone else responded with this
B-52s did a farewell tour, then almost immediately got back together to do a Vegas residency. They've done a few flyouts for festivals this year too
To add on to potential album-plays. Foolish by Superchunk is 30 next year. They’ve played Riot a handful of times, so I could see them getting the Chunk for an album-play
It's interesting that people assume NOFX is a lock. I think they're close for a lock but the way they've been doing things... I think it's just as likely they do their own thing. Most of the Punk in Drublic-style shows in the U.S. have done extremely well (i.e., sold out) and they seem to be reveling in doing their own thing for this last run of shows... For me, it feels more like a coin toss than a lock. I could see it happening if Riot threw $$$ at them and let Fat Mike curate the acts for their stage (and maybe pick few other acts on Rebel throughout the weekend). That's just as feasible as them not doing it depending on what the offer is. Hah! They did the "we're done! LOL JK!" thing?!! I had no idea. Okay, so maybe they're still in the mix... I fully support this idea! And Foolish is definitely the kind of record that warrants the "essential album" title. It's a straight classic akin to the RFTC album play from a few years back. I could see it in a similar slot.
i think with B-52's is when they came through riot it was part of their final tour. then they did a vegas residency (not a tour!) and a new wave fest or 2 (not a tour!) so no lies detected! haha the residency was Awesome, my wife and i flew to vegas in may to see it so she could see them before they retire
also after enjoying riot so much, and then followed along all weekend to my fiends/social media about how great both furnace and LTL were, i whipped this baby up this morning to show the awesomeness that is September rock festivals
i really hope riot fest/riot fest after show isnt sum 41's last Chicago show. i want a proper headline show
Back to the discussion about Riot Fest changing dates, it's interesting that Louder Than Life and Furnace Fest both moved back next year, leaving 9/20-22 open for Riot Fest. Could be something, could be nothing.
Possible album-play. Chocolate and Cheese by Ween is 30 next year and it appears they’re teasing an anniversary show in Philadelphia for next year. I know Ween did The Mollusk in 2019. Maybe Riot can snag them again
Got an email today that Supernova Ska (Sep 13-15) is returning next year, announcing some of the lineup in November 2023 (still in negotiations with next year's headliners) and have tickets for sale already- so it looks like they were trying to book Op Ivy for 2024 - things can definitely change - I'll go with cautiously optimistic Op Ivy will finally play Riot next year Hopefully Riot will announce something about dates soon - early bird tickets before the end of the year would be nice too (wishful thinking) - my guess is Riot stays Sept 13-15, but Sept 20-22 would be fine either way
Okay so I have no issues with any of you on here but if this is one of you I now have an issue please take this off lol https://reddit.com/r/RiotFest/s/yauB7vkMdv
the hives and Amyl & the sniffers annouced as opening a few foo fighters dates next summer, none in chicago, puts them both in the US in july/aug.. hopefully they stick around til sept. i could see the 2 of them doing a whole US tour together
If I had gone to any festivals with wristbands in junior high, I absolutely would have kept the wristband on until my parents physically cut it off of me. Definitely not now though.
Based on routing they could be in for Lolla too, which I hope its not the case. A tour together would be a great pairing!
small way to improve riot for me in '24: make SOME food available in the middle of the park. nothing crazy, think nyc food carts. hot dogs, candy bars, soft pretzels, just small stuff so we wouldn't have to go all the way to the big food tents if we just need a little something. every time i was running from one side of the park to the other to catch a band, i dreaded waiting in line for 25 minutes for a corn dog. not sure if theyve done this in the past, but it seemed like such a no-brainer since they do it with beer.
They sort of have this already with the food vendors in the community area. Not quite as "in the middle" as the big beer and merch tents, but certainly closer to Rise/Rebel than going all the way to main food area.
I don't know if I timed it well or not this year but I had little no issues getting food this year. Especially compared to last year
My hack to getting food in 2022? Go to the hotdog stand at like 2 pm. Get like 6 water bottles and 6 hot dogs. The dogs come in aluminum foil. Put them & the waters in a drawstring backpack. Camped for MCR. Whenever I got hungry throughout the day I pulled out a dog. my plan only failed during TBS when my drawstring backpack got ripped literally in half in the pit and I didn’t realize right away. Found my wallet, keys and medicine on the ground but lost my last few glizzies & waters. would 10/10 do it again tho if I wasn’t camping in a pit & just wanted to skip food lines.
Taco in a Bag has been my go-to Riot Fest meal every year I've gone. It's quick, reasonably priced, and pretty filling. I try to time it so that I'm done eating for a few hours before the inevitable dinner rush from ~4-6... And I usually leave out the VIP section so I can grab a quick slice of pizza and a water or another NA beverage while I'm on my way out.
I'm old - Riot Fest is not what it was when I started going - but Op Ivy may be playing Riot - so I have to go next year
