2025 is the 30 year anniversary for tragic kingdom so I could see no doubt playing next year instead of this year.
Green Day is officially doing dookie and American idiot in full on the saviors tour. Crazy riot fest missed out on that
yeah, but i dont blame GD. do it on your tour, your terms, your money. bummed its (probs) not gonna happen at riot, but still cool they're doing it.
agreed, i think they'll get them eventually (they've gotten most of the big ones aside from them and, strangely, FOB) I could see it being a one off thing in '25 or '26 or something.
That set was good but also a bummer because we all thought they were gonna surprise us and come out and do TTTYG for it’s 10 year
does The Rumble need city permission to not have a barricade? Or is it different because it’s so much smaller?
Might be a technical difference because it's the Cobra Lounge parking lot and not a street/park, but I really don't know.
would Blur really be a number 1 of their day at riot? i know they are rare and way bigger footprint in the UK but is the clamoring for them at upper-mid sized festival headliner level here in the states? If so itd have to be similar to jawbreaker and bikini kill level headliner, but those 2 seem to be there due to their legend status and amount of influence to the riot fest landscape that i dont know if i see with Blur. not a dig on them, i am just unaware
They rarely play the states. The last time they played Chicago was during the Think Tank era which was 2003. I think they for sure could be a headliner
you definitely know Girls & Boys even if you didnt know it was by them. But those are the only 2 i know.
Damon said late last year that Blur was going on hiatus and he was going to work on the new Gorillaz album - my guess is Coachella ponied up to get them for a one off gig, I'd be surprised if they play Riot this year https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/blur-damon-albarn-announce-hiatus-again-1234918266/ Then again, I have no idea who any of the 3 headliners are for Riot this year and not much would surprise me
People in the Blur subreddit are pointing out that on Blur’s mailing list, they stated Coachella will be their only U.S. dates this year. Perhaps they may be out after all
I’m using this as a back-up for my argument of RHCP being a potentially in play. They’ll be playing this Harley Davidson fest this summer. The same one the Foos played last year a couple months before Riot
I highly doubt RHCP comes back to Chicago for a 3rd year in a row. They played soldier field in 2022 and lolla last year
Mad Caddies are playing Supernova Ska a week after Riot, they've been on a ton of the NOFX Punk in Drublic shows - I'd consider them almost a lock (depending on what NOFX does)
a handful of mocks been popping up on reddit and /fb and while most are mid, one idea i saw and liked was having NOFX play all 3 days. maybe they could do like 2 albums a night or something like that. being final stop in chicago, let them spread it out and not have to cram it all into to 90 min-2 hours
