hearing this weezer news got me thinking about headliners and personally i would love something like night 1: paramore & weezer, night 2: Muse & ghost, night 3: ??? & NOFX

that last slot im open to almost anything from depeche mode, the killers, arctic monkeys, fallout boy, maybe something hip hop or metal or if theres any punk headliners we havent gotten yet....something else entirely i havent thought of... and im sure people would shit on muse and/or ghost but they both are incredible live bands.

and of course the white whale of Dolly, which i still dont think happens but this would be THE year with her rock album out

Pearl Jam is supposedly playing 2 wrigley shows next year and Lolla is trying to get Eminem next year

Legitimately can't think of a bona fide headliner they could throw at me that I would be excited about. I'm assuming Rage and Paramore will be "inactive" in 2024. Operation Ivy isn't happening this year. Other options are out because they have Chicago dates already... The Killers, RHCP, or System would be fine enough but nothing I'd be overtly excited about.

2024 has way more potential for the subs and undercards for my tastes, TBH.

Oh yes, rage might be my number 1 draft pick but didn’t think it was realistic but would be happy to be way wrong

Paramore is touring all over Europe with Taylor Swift so they are definite going to be active until at least August, but ya I wouldn't be surprised if they take a break the rest of the year.

Ah! I saw what they posted on IG about their status and assumed they'd be going into hibernation or whatever until the next album. I'd imagine the Taylor Swift dates would be the end but... Who knows...

Yeah with Paramore spending all summer in Europe with TSwift, I could see them being done for a minute and passing on Riot. System would be legit cool. RHCP would be a big pass for me.
I love the Killers but I don't understand their draw. Feels like they haven't had a hit in forever but can still headline festivals? However....next year would be the 20th anniversary of Hot Fuss and THAT would be the highlight of the weekend for me.

No Doubt would be the best option

Madness playing Punk Rock Bowling, it would be dope if they came back in September for Riot. They havent played the US since 2012 (and according to setlistfm, they havent played in Chicago since the 80s) so there might be a demand for them

This festival is happening. Lots of wild gets. Something to keep in mind…

  15. Lots of stuff on there that would be really cool. The headliners all feel more like Pitchfork than Riot, but I'd be happy with any of them. I already have Citizen in my "likely" column since their tour with TBS skips Chicago. Hype for Militarie Gun is huge right now. I thought Lifetime was pretty rough in 2015 but I'd give them another shot. Crime In Stereo, ATDI, and Starflyer 59 I've wanted to see for a long time.

I went to catch them at one of their Halloween shows several years back and had a blast. Don't love them quite enough to do that trip again, but would have a blast seeing them at Riot.

no, just one of the bands thats still semi-active (always active in the fall ) that i cant believe has never played riot before, especially since besides their hometown of St. Louis, chicago is the only other city theyve played the last handful of years.

they are the perfect mid day radical/rise set or maybe even a rebel closer

That Lifetime set was really, really disappointing. I remember leaning over to my friend about 3-4 songs in and saying "this feels like a 'fuck you, pay me' set." It took me by surprise because I'd seen them three times prior and they were incredibly every other time!

I've since heard (via Dan and/or Ari on podcasts) that they basically just weren't having fun playing bigger shows like that which is why they don't do them anymore. In hindsight, that should have been the red flag for that fest being fake. Hah. But yeah... Wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to be on Riot.

Bfmv has a big 2025 announcement they are making at some point. Would love a the poison album play at riot 2025

  24. Looking back at my list of who I saw that day, it wasn't just Lifetime who were struggling. The Ataris were supposed to play Blue Skies, but they played maybe four songs from it and sounded pretty bad. Elway seemed disastrously hung over and I think they said they flew in that morning. I apparently saw Steve Ignorant, The Movielife, and American Nightmare that day too but none made a lasting impression on me. Then I made the poor decision of seeing The Academy Is... instead of Modern Life Is War.

my 2nd day of riot fest ever! looking back my only regret is not knowing who FIDLAR was yet, cuz seeing them at 12:50 on the main stage would have been rad! my day was: ataris, gwar, millincolin, dead milkmen (lotta fond memories of this one), desaparecidos, echo & the bunymen, bootsy colins, merle haggard, billy idol, system (still a top 5 best set AND top 5 sketchiest crowd)
