My two cents but putting two of the more prominent women led acts on the lineup, St. Vincent and Waxahatchee, at conflicting times is not a great look
Is Radical going to be where Rebel was? I feel bands like Public Enemy, SoCo or Bright Eyes might be too big for it
I just assumed that based it being furthest to the right on the layout, but maybe I'm wrong. NOFX world might work better on that stage for everyone except NOFX.
Definitely feel like the layout will be different this year (bring back the main stages being across from each other!)
Yeah, I think the same. Lets wait to see the map. Also, Buzzcocks was meant to play NOFX stage, right?
You know… compared to previous years, overlap for me would not be super bad? On Friday, Cypress Hill/The Offspring/Public Enemy would suck, but I could easily split those (even though I’d be missing some of Smash) On Saturday, Descendents overlapping Pavement would suck, but I’d be okay leaving early during Descendents. On Sunday, that would be the worst. Mastodon/The Vandals/Slaughter Beach, Dog sucks, but I wouldn’t be heartbroken to miss The Vandals since they play in OC all the time haha. Slayer/Dr. Dog/Sublime would also blow, but I’d probably just catch a few min of Slayer then watch Dr. Dog and all of Sublime That being said, NOFX being against the headliner each night would bum me out. I guess if I were going, I’d maybe cut Beck in half and watch them? Or maybe FOB. But yeah, now I’m more bummed I didn’t make an effort to go. Oh well… Maybe 2025 will finally be my year…
Honestly, some minor annoyance in terms of overlap but nothing major. And a few sets I'm perfectly fine splitting. Pleasantly surprised with the lack in overlap for a lot of the smaller artists I was hoping to catch... Friday: Get Dead, Winona Fighter, Home Front, ALL, Drug Church/Face To Face, ~15-20 of NFG, the Lawrence Arms, Cypress Hill, the Offspring, ~15-20 of Fall Out Boy, NOFX Saturday: Liquid Mike, Heart Attack Man, Codefendants, Buzzcocks, the Dickies, the Hives, ~10-15 of Sincere Engineer, Dillinger Four/Basement, Lagwagon, ~20 of St. Vincent, Descendents, end of Pavement, NOFX Sunday: Doom Scroll, Saxsquatch, Cobra SKulls, Sunami, Gel, Cursive, the Vandals, Laura Jane Grace & Catbite, Pennywise/Rob Zombie, ~30 minutes of NOFX, Sublime Bummed to miss Spiritual Cramp, Manchester Orchestra, and Taking Back Sunday but that's fine. Hah. I'm able to see all of my priority sets which rules! Haha.
Somehow I managed to get away with 0 Conflicts, even though Friday is packed for me. Not only that, but everyone I want to see Friday is scattered across the 2 main stages (I assume it's the main ones) so I don't have to walk around too much. Now I just need to wait and see if SoCo and Basement are getting aftershows because if they do then I might not even go on Saturday and Sunday. At least both of them are playing the radical stage.
It all works out for me but there's definitely some odd overlap. I think they were definitely counting on that extra hour each day to space things out a bit better...
If I were going, Friday I will be all day on the 2 main stages too. My only conflict would be Hot Mulligan vs Drug Church.
Since moving to 2 main stages this was only done once and it was to accommodate Slipknot. They needed a slightly bigger stage to fit all their shit. And based on the schedule aaa and metro are the 2 main stages and will be next to each other
i mean there is so much indie on saturday of course some of it will overlap. and yes female artists are allowed to over lap each other, lol pretty clean for me over all, alot of bouncing around early friday and 1 major conflict each day but thats just at a quick glance
To be fair it’s more because I want to see both but it’s not like there’s a TON of women led acts on the lineup so those two getting to play without the other conflicting would have been nice but it is what it is, there’s only so much Riot can do schedule wise anyways
note to future self - when making mock schedules no longer try to theme a stage all day, instead theme the stages in chunks at a time. never in my wildest imagination would i have put the chisel going into tornillo or drug church going into souls of mischief, but im here for it! haha
While I agree, what can you do? Lolla faced similar issues with Chappell Roan and Japanese Breakfast. But Riot Fest should book more women artists overall.
TBH, I think St. Vincent and Waxahatchee are different sounding enough that the overlapping sets isn't weird or problematic at all. Public Enemy isn't too big for that stage. But you're definitely right about SoCo and Bright Eyes, I think.
Yeah I hate this schedule lol NFG, TLA, Sum 41 is brutal ManOrch, Basement, D4 is brutal Gel, Sunami, Fiddlehead is brutal and actually doesn't make any sense NOFX, Sublime is brutal
Yup! I honestly thought that layout worked better. I certainly enjoyed it more. Just a preference thing even though they'll almost certainly stick with the two next to each other from here on.
