Someone on Reddit mentioned that both Riot and New England Metal and Hardcore Festival have listed Suicidal Tendencies playing on Sunday 22nd. And on their official website they list both festivals on the same day.
Hopefully soon. We are nearing a month out and I feel like most of us here have other shows we are interested in (not related to Riot Fest) that we are considering going to or just other potential expenses, and it'd be nice to have the aftershows announced so people can decide. I feel like they should be announced ASAP because people need time to budget/plan/etc.
Pitchfork aftershows announced - June 12, 2024 Pitchfork Music Festival - July 19 (beginning date) 37 days between announcement and start of the festival Lollapalooza aftershows announced - May 28, 2024 Lollapalooza - August 1, 2024 (beginning date) 65 days between announcement and start of the festival Today - August 8, 2024 Riot Fest - September 20, 2024 (beginning date) Currently 43 days between today and the start of the festival
Also sorry for the triple post but I feel like once aftershows are announced they should have at least one shuttle drop off at each of the aftershow venues. Which, again, people need time to plan for (even if not, people still need to plan how they are getting to an aftershow)
If it helps, here are the dates they were announced in the last couple of years 2023 - August 8 2022 - August 10 2021 - August 19 2019 - August 8 2018 - August 15 2017 - August 15 So it should be this week or the next
ive been playing around with my mock stage line up/band order and the biggest swing im taking is that there wont be a dedicated 'main stage' across the weekend. my theory is based on riot mike saying in that interview that FOB will be playing the metro stage, but why single them out and not say beck and slayer too? so my thought is friday Metro will be the 'main stage' while the 2 Rockaway Beach stages will be the Mains on Saturday * sunday A very brief overview of my prediction, though a few random acts here and there are so hard to categorize but slotting them best i can. and i left off NOFX since that one is pretty self explanatory/self contained fri metro - FOB +pop punk emo AAA - publice enemy + hip hop/reggae rockaway 1 - offspring + punk/rock rockaway 2 - sum 41 + punk/rock sat rockaway 1 - beck +indi rockaway 2 - pavement + indi / rock metro - st. vincent +female artist or electronic leaning AAA - machester orc + emo/post hardcore/rock sun rockaway 1 - slayer + metal/hardcore rockaway 2 - rob zombie + metal/hardcore metro - sublime + the more mellow artist AAA - oliver tree + hip hop/electronic leaning ( however i can be talked into swapping this being headlined by dr. dog and be the 'mellow stage' and having oliver tree be right before sublime)
They effectively already have this. Gman = Metro Delilah's = Delilah's (although I can't recall the last time they put on a show but I don't really pay attention) Avondale Tap = Sleeping Village Concord = Concord/Subt Cobra Lounge = Cobra Lounge/Bottom Lounge Harold Washington = Reggie's (this is a bit of a walk but whatever) Novel Pizza = Thalia Hall (would be my guess)
Maybe Concord can help for Empty Bottle and maybe Chop Shop too. Not sure if there is one closer to them, as it can be a long walk from Concord to them
I thought he was just teasing one of the bands playing (FOB) and mentioned that they were playing on the metro stage, which they have in the past. I would doubt they would switch which is the main stage over the weekend. Also, the Metro is the stage with the special viewing areas. So I’m pretty confident that it will be the main stage all weekend.
this week starts the annual "see as many riot bands locally to lessen conflicts" run of shows. Princess Goes on Thursday at a tiny club is going to be fun. the songs are solid, but i have a feeling (aka- hoping) they will be one of those bands where the records dont do justice to the live show. i mean the guy is a broadway legend, so im sure the pipes will be on display.
Surprise! I'm going to come over for Riot on Saturday! Was able to sell some tickets and make it work, very pumped to see Pavement, NOFX, Spoon, The Hives, and Drug Church! Also, is anyone planning on using the shuttle service?
So riot fest was removed from seat geeks website and the calendar. It was originally on there when they announced the move. there’s a thread on Reddit about it and a lot of people think it’s moving back to Douglass park
If it moves back to the city it will make this day a little less terrible as a Vikings fan lol. Not going to get my hopes up, though.
Lot of people in that thread with "confirmation" and "sources" saying it's moving again. I'll believe it when it's officially announced or a local news station gets it, but what a bungle it would be if it's true.
