Update to this: Matt confirmed in an Instagram comment that they plan on adding more dates later in the year. This kind of puts them in play. Maybe them doing a regular set instead of the Resignation set. But you’re probably still right
gotta be and i think that's fitting. curate a stage, play your last chicago show at riot fest closing down a stage with a long set. ill be there.
Feels pretty likely. Might play two nights based on what they're doing in some of those cities. Or maybe do a pre-show on Thursday night somewhere?
Closing the Rise stage one night then an aftershow (at Radius? Or maybe somewhere smaller) another night seems like a given.
It definitely feels odd that they’re not doing any Midwest but I also just don’t really see them doing riot alongside these shows. Hope to be wrong though!
Since they first played riot fest, they have only come to Chicago for a non-Riot Fest set twice. And one of those times was the fat anniversary tour. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if they had their last Chicago show be at Riot.
Given the tour gaps it would make sense... So I'm assuming it's a possibility until we hear otherwise. But I hear you. It's definitely not a lock, but this makes it a coin-toss. Haha. Mike is on the record as saying one of the things he likes about PiD is that they get a cut of everything (including the bar). So those events do really well for them. If they get added to Riot I'd imagine it's a really, really sweet deal.
Yeah that’s why I just don’t think it makes sense alongside the 40 songs thing too but guess we’ll see
Hadn't NOFX started doing Punk in Drublic shows before their Riot spot in 2021 (my timeline is a blur) - I think considering the amount of times Nofx has played the festival, they have a good relationship with Riot Mike
I feel that with them adding NYC dates, there is no way that they aren’t going to play Chicago. So I’m going with them just not announcing them yet because they are play Riot Fest. it seems that Sun 41 is pretty open to playing festivals for their last shows too. So will Riot get two final Chicago shows in one year?
The dates on NoFX’s shirt definitely gives me the feeling that they may be playing. Hopefully Riot Fest is giving them all the time that they want. I assume that they are (if NoFX is playing) because otherwise I think NoFX would just do their own thing. And if they curate a stage towards NoFX’s final shows, I have a feeling that I will be spending a lot of time at that stage.
If Ween can get 90 minutes (and I love Ween), then Nofx can get 90 minutes to play 40 songs not like it was going to happen but Rolling Stones are out - June 27 at Soldier Field
I imagine NOFX have a good relationship with the Riot Fest folks. Riot will easily accommodate them for a longer set, or multiple days
Tim from Thursday liked a comment I had about the band playing Full Collapse in full last year at RF. It might not mean anything but could be a hint they are doing it this year…
I would take that with a grain of salt. But at the same time, I wonder if maybe Thursday could end up being the new TBS and be sort of one of Riot’s “house bands” that plays every year? They’ve done the fest and/or aftershows every year since 2021. Maybe Riot has their eyes on them
Offspring seem to be on every festival this year, aren't they due for a return to Riot (maybe an Americana play since they've already done Smash)
I wouldn’t expect The Offspring to be on a fest like Shaky Knees, but very cool to see them there. They are long-overdue for Riot, tbh
Just realized SDRE is on Shaky Knees. It should be noted that next year is the 30th anniversary of Diary
im just surprised billy idol is billed 2nd between the foos and PTM. guess its a nice day for a good placement...
