Interesting that the agenda mentions the addition of off-site parking. Clearly that part was happening regardless of whether the fest stayed in the park or not.
Good point, but it now makes sense why everything is happening tomorrow. Seems very intentional after all.
I work in bridgeview and I don’t think that’s true. They Use the stadium during the off-season for other stuff. I saw a sign for Senior citizen driving test
Should also be noted that it was the June meeting last year they got approval. I would love to know what was said for this year.
Saw somebody post about the ChicagoLand Fairgrounds. The name maps onto the new one, it's not under the parks district jurisdiction, there's a giant parking garage, Rudio was going to be there last year, looks to still be in the 24th ward... ...Except it looks so tiny compared to Douglass. So that's not it either. Man, tomorrow's gonna be weird. Haha.
Man, that was a wasted 5 minutes comparing GoogleMaps to the map I found... I swore I had it clocked there. LOL
https://data.cityofchicago.org/Facilities-Geographic-Boundaries/Boundaries-Wards-2023-Map/cdf7-bgn3 25th ward. It’s close.
I’ve been out all day on vacation so just seeing the announcement now. If true they are moving to the suburbs I won’t go. I don’t have a car and Metra is not consistent enough to make it worth it to go, even if they offer more service. But we’ll see tomorrow!
There are some people trying to find lineup clues in the video. I don’t know if there are. But if there are, The Tossers have a song titled Emerald City. So that could also be an oz reference. I doubt it is but It makes more sense than the people that think Riot is moving to Oz Park.
On ABC 7 news they confirmed via a publicist from Riot Fest that the festival is indeed moving. We will see ion a few hours if this is true!
While I wouldn’t expect them to say otherwise, I’d say this is the closest they’ve come to it actually ending.
I feel bad for everyone who has non-refundable accommodations already booked because RF has been advertising this as in Douglass Park up until yesterday.
The more I think about it, the more I hope it’s at Six Flags. If the suburbs are inevitable at this point, you could do a lot worse than Gurnee. plus, if the rides are open to festival goers we might get a scenario where lines are shorter and crowds are smaller bc people are splitting time between both.
I am not saying I think it will be Seatgeek, but given their past relationship with them and this change seemingly being relatively recent, it would make sense to go with a more known quantity on a shorter timeline. They have to at least be considered a strong option. If it is a different location, I have to assume they at least explored the idea of Seatgeek.
Ignoring the logistics of it being at Great America (which I don’t think would work), their website says Fright Fest starts on 9/14.
I did see that, but I think you could "easily" move that game to Soldier or elsewhere, if needed. I think a three day festival would win out there.
