I think they jumped the gun with some of these venues. The first LA date is almost sold out completely. But the second show isn’t even a quarter sold
Not gonna lie, I legit enjoyed Riot Pop. Not the cherry flavor, but I drank a bunch of the other one. It was a good non-booze option for the early afternoon. I mean, would Turnstile be too much of a stretch as headliner? Maybe not Fri/Sat, but I could maybe see Sunday (when the headliner crowd is usually a bit smaller regardless). It would be nice to see Riot Fest book a headliner that was more current than NIN or QotSA. Even MCR was around for longer than 20 years before they got to headline, and I have a strong feeling they wouldn't have headlined if it weren't for the hype around it being a reunion.
Speaking of MCR - the reunion happened and then, just, nothing? I'm sure they have something in the works but it feels like they fell off the earth.
I was under the impression they’d release a new album. Kinda surprised they just did the tour and went back into hibernation
Frank is busy touring and recording music with LS Dunes, so probs we wont hear of MCR anytime soon. I feel they will keep touring but only a few shows a year and not as heavily as last year, the demand will be there.
Saosin are playing in NYC, Phily and California shows for the 20th anniversary of Translating The Name. They play the EP in full at every show anyway, but it would be a good excuse to have them back at Riot Also, a The Sound of Animals Fighting aftershow would be cool
Anthony said that the Orlando show was their last Animals show for the year, but I'd be fine if that was a lie
I wasn’t at the Interrupters show tonight, but someone on Reddit says they said “Maybe we will see you in September.”
Not that they where ever in play to play Aerosmith is playing the United center the Friday of riot fest
Black Crowes according to the article as well Was Chicago the only date on the tour so for he didn't play? Could be playing Wicker Park
I think he might have skipped another show or two, but I can't check right now... FWIW, though, LJG is opening up quite a few dates on that tour and not just Chicago. Her and Chuck Ragan are opening the bulk of them.
I don't think we're lucky enough to get an announcement this week. I'm thinking Wednesday or Thursday next week with ticket on-sale on Friday. Could also be the week after but... With the ramp-up they've been doing on Twitter I think it'll be sooner than that.
I have a feeling this year is going to be a "looks really cool on paper and I'm stoked its happening, but its not quite worth the travel for me" kinda year. But I might also just be telling myself that because its feeling unlikely that I'll be able to go, regardless. Haha. Either way: What we've seen so far is looking really cool, and per usual - has potential to be really nicely curated. The worst is the one day that inevitably happens where there's zero tweeting or social media posts... And then at 7pm EST there's a post that's just them promoting a club show. We really ought to put together a "Riot Fest announcement month" bingo card or drinking game or something.
