I feel like they take "cheap shots" at Eve 6 from time to time. I'm shocked they weren't on it last year and would love to see them this year. 2023 IS the 25th anniversary of the fly album - Friday 4/28 is the anniversary date, actually.
is BLUR possible as a headliner.. new tour has nothing in September which could mean the announcement of US dates If Death Cab & Postal Service are playing like we all think, Riot needs someone BIG playing between both and Blur would fit that category
Blur would be cool, and they havent tour the US since 2003 besides some shows in NY and CA in 2013 and 2015. Although I dont know how big their demmand is in the US nowadays, I feel they are one of those bands that are big everywhere except in the US
Yeah I think Demand is there for Blur. They haven’t played here in 8 years and the last time they did they played some big venues. They’d be an interesting grab for Riot, but it would be awesome
I mean, there's demand for Blur but... I really kinda doubt it's "headliner" demand. That said, if it's a US exclusive (i.e., their only show in 2023) I could see them being a "co-headliner" with somebody else. Postal Service and Death Cab on Riot with Blur in-between on Roots would be super appetizing to a lot of people. EDIT: Actually, that could be the "secret sauce" I've been waiting for to be convinced Postal Service could headline successfully. This would do it, I think.
Blur would be sick! and great slotting for them too, there could be lots of possibilities for bands that would compliment those 2 as well as be able to headline a stage: pavement, pixies, faith no more, bright eyes, decemberists, modest mouse, father john misty, flaming lips... but i could also see riot not caring as much about flow (sometimes riot/roots flow together genre-wise other times not) and just slotting in Gogol bordello/rise against/TBS type as well... or who know, maybe death grips get put there just for the whiplash, haha
Father John sounded great in 2018, but yeah, I found it very confusing he played the main stage, which was half full, and Incubus played the side stage, which was so full you couldn't hear anything.
I'm seeing people speculating what artists are "locked" but I'm still stressed to see what is the location and how it's going to be this year. Not sure if everyone is just optimistic or I'm too pessimistic.
my wife and I left incubus and walked so close to the front for FJM with so much space around us it was insane. great show though.
So. We know Flogging Molly is Sunday too, right? Roots or Radical. Social Distortion with Gaslight and Flogging Molly. Just putting that out there. Or trying to manifest it. Not sure which. Haha.
Beg to differ there. They have dates the other two nights of Riot. And it'll be their third day in a row with a show. An aftershow on Sunday would be ambitious. Possible... But very, very ambitious. Haha.
I feel like Frank is a lock too since he's not on the chicago date of the interrupters tour. Would love to see Frank and Gaslight back to back closing out a stage
