When he opened for Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue acoustic tour in 2013 I vividly remember him playing Standing on the Edge of Summer cause I thought it would be the only time I'd ever see it live. It's one of the few Thursday songs I think translate pretty easily acoustic
He played a Flaming Lips cover on my date of the Ocean Avenue Acoustic tour, couldn't tell you what it was cuz in not that familiar with them but it stood out to me as an interesting choice.
the way they did that tour last year where there arent full sets, but rather each acts takes turns doing 20-30 minute segments and switching back and forth (same with new kids on the block/salt n peppa/en vogue /rick astley i took my wife to) is such a cool & interesting way to do it. zero down time, the artist get breaks, tight 2-3 hour show. really only works for acts not using live instruments but still rad
Airborne Toxic Event is out. Not that I was really expecting them, but they have played before and it's 15 years of their best album.
Isn't one of their members like an anti-vaxxer or Trump fan or something? I could be wrong. Either way, "Sometime around midnight" still fuckin slaps.
Not that I know of. Mikel Jollet (vocalist) is pretty prominent on political Twitter but he's certainly no Trump fan. Edit: You might be thinking of Two Door Cinema Club. Their singer co-wrote this: https://consequence.net/2022/12/rudolphs-laptop-ariel-pink-winston-marshall-tucker-carlson/
Or, the more likely thing, I could have been completely mistaken. A quick google turns up nothing, so I'm glad I can listen to SAM guilt free.
No Chicago date on the Dirty Nil's next tour and they haven't played Chicago since 2021.. last played Riot in 2016 (all good signs)
That’s a great Fest lineup. Would love most of that lineup on Riot too, but especially Strike Anywhere and Signals Midwest and I Am the Avalanche.
I've definitely seen enough FC album plays, but I don't think I've seen WATT. Wouldn't mind hearing a few of the deeper cuts - M. Shepard, Tomorrow I'll be you, etc.
Lets get Better Lovers on the line up! new band from 3 members of ETiD, greg from DEP, and will putney
