Yes. If anything, an LTL appearance typically *slightly* increases the likelihood of a band playing riot.
Superchunk? I know all the dates are East Coast, but...maybe? It at least indicates they will be on the road in September.
Could see it. The last time they played was 2018, and they’ve flown out to shows on tours before. If not, I could also see them playing next year and doing a Foolish album play (Side note, damn I’m bummed no West Coast dates. Still sad I missed their LA show last summer)
soooo what do we think it means that Riot fest guy on reddit went back in and deleted all of those informative comments from yesterday? say a thing or 2 he wasnt supposed to?
Probably exactly this. Riot's general M.O. around everything is to stay silent or reply sarcastically. And you can't really respond to things like this sarcastically. I think it was well-intentioned, and probably a good move to be sure those specific people felt heard, but I would think they don't want anything out there that points to what things may or may not definitively happen. Those posts were worded very well in that they weren't framed definitively... But there is a 100% chance that somebody could (or already did) take those and state them all as fact elsewhere. I can just see somebody on one of the Riot Fest FB groups posting the same screenshots that were happening here and saying "WHATEVER THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS SEEEE?!! PROOF!" And that's not very helpful.
And it felt very defensive. Better to allow this to be discussed through official channels rather than with people posting to Reddit.
I didn't take it as defensive when I read it. But I can definitely see that in hindsight. I do think part of the issue, though, is that the "RiotFestPerson" Twitter account technically is an official channel. That coupled with how "loose" the conversation was could probably have been an issue too. Good point.
I would have never pegged that band as a possibility for Riot (although I don't know them much), but that is as close to a lock as can be.
But seriously, just listen to 2-3 of their songs, it's one of those bands that you either really like or really dislike.
that was my exact reaction too cuz im not sure how well thursday songs translate to acoustic, so i looked on set list fm. for the workforce drowning would be interesting to hear without the ferocity of the whole band:
I figured "This song..." would be in there, along with "This side of Brightness." A Bruce cover would be cool too.
Sleep Token is very fringe, like I can't really think of a similar band, as far as a Riot booking so I wouldn't be jumping to conclusions they are a lock yet.. but whatever, we'll know in a month (I HOPE)
