Question: someone advised that the Indianapolis show on the AAR tour would probably hinder them playing RF due to it being within 60 days because it’s Live Nation. Does that not take into account the radius of 90 miles or is it strictly 60 days from Live Nation?
Yeah, he's teased retiring for a while now, but his kids and the band pretty much run the show. They'll make a big deal of him coming out and he might do a chant or two but he's got a chair to sit on somewhere onstage and will walk off stage for a few songs at some point and come back. I was with you, but they've got a couple 3-in-a-row bookings during the August dates, so not out of the realm of possibility.
I don’t think that’s a thing. I know artists have played Indy just before/after riot fest and it’s been fine. Milwaukee is much closer to Chicago and if that’s never been a problem then there’s no reason Indy would be a problem.
Senses fail was supposed to have an Indy stop on their 2 album play tour they did a few years ago. They ended up not having one and they used playing riot fest as a reason as why they couldn’t play Indy
That just seems so weird given the distance between cities and both being markets big enough to fill up venues without one having to bleed into the other. But... people and bands and promoters do weird shit all the time so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wouldn't go so far to say that because of the Piqniq lineup not having them Paramore is a lock. That Milwaukee date screams "we were booked for Lolla but something happened so we are late adding a date in the area, but cannot add a Chicago date because Lolla is restricting us/we don't want to clash with the festival". They played ACL, are playing Bonnaroo (both C3 produced events), and are at the height of their popularity thus far (they would have gotten a headlining spot) (plus being in the midwest right around Lolla), everything screamed they were playing Lolla this year. Unfortunately, this may mean there is just no Chicago show at all this year, which is a bummer for fans because the Chicago Theatre show sold out quickly and resale prices were insane all the way up to showtime. I'd love to know what happened if they indeed were in play for Lolla, but I imagine we will never know that information.
Yeah definitely not true for all cases. Many bands have played Indy on or around Riot Fest weekend in the past.
Chicago and Indianapolis are completely different markets lol Big Thief are headlining Pitchfork this year and playing a show in Indy a few days later, and they did the same thing in 2021, played a show in Indy days before subheadlining the same festival Edit: Phoebe Bridgers also played Indy in 2021 days before headlining the Pitchfork Festival Both acts are bigger than Senses Fail too (meaning more people would be likely to travel) I think Senses Fail just made up a fake reason as to why they bagged on the Indianapolis show lol
George Clinton and P-Funk would be such a great get for Riot Fest. Cool to see it looking like it might actually (finally) be happening!
There's a bit of overlap there (Modest Mouse, Digable Planets, maybe Pharcyde?) - not sure about Alanis but personally, I would love that.
The Hotelier, Oso Oso, Origami Angel and Prince Daddy & the Hyenna are all out. Playing Japan during Riot weekend. That is a stacked lineup tho
This was commented on Social D’s recent post of their latest tour dates. Is it safe to call them a lock? (Also, apparently Johnny Two Bags isn’t in the band anymore? Weird)
