damn i really wanted them this year, i hope we get someone on the level of their unique style on the lineup, maybe a DeVotvhKa or dresden dolls or something
Someone brought this up on the Lolla thread.. Paramore may be out with the newly announced August Milwaukee date because it is within the 90/90 clause, I know Summerfest doesn't really enforce it but it's discretion of the venue/promoter
To me it's really reading like they were going to play Lolla at some point, and it fell through so they added a Milwaukee show now that they can. Cus I can't for the life of me understand why they would've had to wait to announce the Milwaukee show otherwise, and those tour dates just lineup so perfectly with the Lolla dates. I sadly think they're pretty unlikely to play Riot and that there's probably just no Chicago date this year unless they're working on adding it or they play Piqniq or something.
I live in Indy and haven’t been before so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but might they be playing Taste of Chicago?
I guess it's technically possible, I think they're too big for it though, and it's kind of a weird thing. It's early (they'd be on at like 6 or 7 latest), there's a ticketed front area, but otherwise just free lawn, not very long sets, etc.
Taste of Chicago is happening the weekend after Labor Day because of NASCAR. If that's the case...big side eye at Riot not getting them a week later haha
Going by this with the 90/90 that would also mean Green Day and foo are out for riot since they are up there in July. I think it’s July 15/16th
Artists have definitely played Milwaukee within close time periods of Lolla & Riot. But I think Paramore is a band that a fest would be counting on bringing their dedicated fans in to see them, and a show in Milwaukee might deter some of those fans who wouldn't go to the fest otherwise. I think the radius clause would be a little more strict for them. But I'm just assuming, truly I have no idea how any of this works lol
It's the venue, the situation, the contract, the promoters, like a whole bunch of variables but the Paramore one with them out of the blue adding that Milwaukee show just makes me think they're out. I don't see Ticketmaster or whoever is promoting wanting to work with Riot if they are trying to sell tickets. Probably a terrible example but Foo Fighters are playing in New Hampshire two days before Boston Calling and it's within the 90 mile radius (it's like 85) so I think a lot of it is vague.. and I don't think a Harley Davidson Festival in July thinks of Riot in September as competition for ticket buyers found a better example: Joan Jett is playing both the Harley festival and Rosemont in July
I’m now in the mindset that Paramore will be headlining the Q101 Piqniq and that’s why Milwaukee was announced today.
Not trying to be rude, but that is the driving distance not a RADIUS ie "radius clauses" https://www.cuemath.com/geometry/radius/ https://www.gps-coordinates.net/distance Douglass Park, 1401 S Sacramento Dr, Chicago, IL 60623, United States to Fiserv Forum, 1111 Vel R Phillips Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53203, United States Distance: 133.03 km / 82.66 mi radius clauses are not set in stone, but 18k arenas have different contracts than a 1-3k venue like the Rave
What makes you think that “radius clauses” adhere so literally to geometry? Seems significantly more likely to me that “radius” is being used in the more practical sense of “how far of a journey is it for the event goer”. In which case, the driving distance would be way more important than the geographic distance.
Electric Eye - Rock & Roll Memories: The Smiths reunite for world tour (and maybe new music, too!) The Smiths at Riot?! Lol and yes, I understand what day it is…
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?st...xcmBsjZF2QkNza5c6Tf3adxbn7ho6l&id=37054718736 Them making a joke of having nfts for some reason makes me laugh even harder at John D actually doing it with Bamboozle.
God, I hate April 1st on the Internet. Anyway... It would be fun if people shared this with John D, convinced him Riot stole his idea, etc. It would inevitably lead to some amazing entertainment/a meltdown.
Would Be Your Own Pet be in play? I wasn't really aware of them back when they were around the first time, but they're back together and could fit a side stage. They're playing another US festival in May and some European dates in June
As far as I know, they'd be in play... If they're just doing the one U.S. festival in May and European dates in the summer? A fall U.S. tour would make sense. They would be a great fit for an early day set on Radical/Rise or a late afternoon on Rebel.
Anyone in the area know if the requests for Douglass Park are still pending or know how to check that info?
https://data.cityofchicago.org/Events/Chicago-Park-District-Event-Permits/pk66-w54g/explore Search Riot Fest, it’s listed as “tentative”
FWIW, in case anyone is seeing that and concerned, Lollapalooza and Pitchfork are also still listed as tentative. I don’t think the city has made any moves on accepting permits yet for any of the festivals. (I couldn’t find any permits for Re:SET though which is kind of concerning because I have tickets to that lol)
