Yeah, I'd say one or maybe both are likely. I don't ever care to see PTV, but I'd watch The Used from way back while eating dinner or something.
The Used/PTV tour skips over a lot of major cities. I'd imagine they both have separate tours planned later in the year. Especially with both having new albums coming out. For the Used in particular, this co-headliner is probably a great way to prime the proverbial pump for a proper headliner in the fall... Could definitely see a Riot stop.
couldnt give any shit about FIR or INK but im more interested that this still gives me hope for Spiritbox and maaaybe underoath are in play. Sorta surprised spirit box is still taking 3rd banana slot with how hot they are lately (AND with a band like FIR with such a shithead of a singer )
Even though I said the Gary show basically meant Weezer would not play Riot.. they are already announced for two other festivals the same weekend of Riot.. so I reckon they are very likely out
not much crossover potential, but the one that sticks out is gaslight anthem, esp with no chicago date yet that ive seen... and of course wayne newton, haha
I could potentially see Bastille in the mix as well. They could fit in that Bleachers/Fitz & the Tantrums/Matt & Kim kinda slot early evening/late afternoon Roots stage slot. Or direct support on Radicals/Rise. The Killers, Duran Duran, and Blondie too maybe?
Duran Duran is playing in Chicago on Sept 1 Was same weeked as Riot last year, zero crossovers.. I could def see Gaslight though
Oh yeah! Those two, for sure! For some reason those didn't even click when I looked at the poster. Good point about DD! Gaslight is definitely possible. Though, I could just as easily see them doing a headliner. At this point, I think they'd be a weird get for them. Not size-wise, just... I dunno. They don't scream "Riot" to me, though I'm having a difficult time articulating why. Probably because I'm having a particularly angry day and I'm attempting to be polite instead of just screaming "they play insurance commercial music now; their time has passed." LOL
The Killers are headlining Sea Hear Now on the Friday and Bourbon & Beyond on the Saturday.. I don't see them headlining Sunday or playing 3 festivals in one weekend, but I guess I could be wrong
Nah, you're probably right. I'm just not thinking these through today, apparently... I generally doubt any band that would be headliner or sub status would do three dates in a row with one of those dates being a festival. And certainly not a band who would play last like the Killers.
and unless they break up or go on hiatus again, I think Gaslight plays Riot again at some point in the next 3-4 years or so and unless Music Midtown & Primavera Sound return (leaning doubtful on both).. I think Riot is the last major festival that weekend to release their lineup AGAIN although Lolla hasn't either, so like it's not REALLY a big deal lol.. just a logical guess, ITS GONNA BE MAY
The Killers would be fine headliners, saw them at Lolla in 2017 and the Aragon in 2021 and had good times at both. The Black Keys…well I haven’t listened to them in years but…it would be a no from me dawg.
Spanish Love Songs covered Smile Like You Mean It & I'm listening to The Killers discography today now because of it. I think they'd be super fun at Riot
