Not necessarily. It’d be more than 90 days between that show and riot fest. Although it does make them less likely
Word is that Heatwave Festival, which was also in Douglass, is moving to Riis Park where that Re:SET Concert Series is happening. This to me means one of two things, either all festivals except Riot are gone from Douglass and they get to stay or every festival in Douglass is gone and they are all moving to Riis. I’ve never been to Heatwave so I don’t know how big it is but I’m leaning towards the former being true because Riis is a bit smaller than Douglass and I can’t really see Riot Fest downsizing.
Heatwave was 3 stages, so definitely smaller than Riot Fest (but a little bigger than like pitchfork because none of the stages share a space like the green and red stage)
I hope this isn’t the case. That feels like kicking the can down the road a few more years until eventually the neighborhood around Riis gets pissed about not being able to use their park during the summer.
I think The Gaslight Anthem's spring tour not routed through Chicago bodes well for their Riot Fest chances.
It would be cool! But they played Chicago right after Riot last year ad it seems this tour is on cities they didnt played last time
Really cool to see us having a shot at getting to see Gaslight in the top 2-3 lines! Getting them and the Dirty Nil in the mix would be awesome. The Nil are an active enough band (when they're active) that I feel like landing them is feasible despite that tour ending in July. I only side eye that when it's older bands that typically only do 1-2 runs per year and they've already hit up Chicago recently. Oh, and Story of the Year are out. Doing the Yellowcard thing in July.
Honestly, I kinda feel like the other festivals leaving would help things significantly. That was the bulk of the narrative the last few years. Riot just got the brunt of it because they were the biggest name. Doesn't mean Riot can't improve how they handle things or whatever. But I'm sure it would help. One festival is significantly less than three in terms of weeks the park is taken up.
PLEASE. Haven't done the pizza party since we started going because we've been too damn tired every time. I'd 100% make sure we go for the NIL though.
Depending on what happens with where they can hold the fest in Chicago this year and going forward. I wonder if a move to Milwaukee isn’t entirely out of The picture since some of the shows they are promoting are at venues in Milwaukee. They are currently promoting 7 riot fest present shows at Milwaukee venues
I feel there is no way they would move to Milwaukee. I think they would go to the suburbs before Milwaukee so they could still claim it is a Chicago festival.
Yeah there was an article in Block Club today about it. I still have no idea what's going on and my pure and absolute 100% guess is Riot stays in DP for now.
still such 1 sided reporting when they only interview neighbors that are opposed, and never ones in favor like my friend who makes bank that weekend outside the fest as well as having a booth for her charity inside riot.
Selfishly I'm hoping for Riis because it's more convenient for me to get to but I think it would be a better fest at Douglass since the park is bigger. Either way I just want to know where it is so I can book hotels as far out as possible
Last year there was a festival in Lincoln Park with Ellie Goulding, Kim Petras and more that got cancelled. Is Lincoln Park a possibility for Riot to move to?
I feel like overhearing a Death Grips set would make the animals at the zoo infinitely more anxious than overhearing an Ellie Goulding set
Someone wanna spill the beans on what NBC 5 might know? lol They ran a story tonight about the Bears moving to Arlington Heights and then mentioned Riot Fest potentially moving to Soldier Field. I’m assuming they are just guessing but who knows. I didn’t see the news story but if I find it online I’ll share it here.
