  1. That's a fair comparison (although I'd be amped for an early-years Goo Goo Dolls set).

I don’t really remember the Goo Goo Dolls‘ first album, but Jed through Dizzy is a hell of a run.

The other comparison I was going to shoot for was Black Eyed Peas, but I'm glad I went Goo Goo Dolls because it's much more of a 1:1. Haha. Incredibly influential artists who just steered in a different direction after a certain point.

And honestly, it's all about marketing. Which feels gross to say, but I think it's true. Goo Goo Dolls wouldn't want to do an "early years" tour (or even a set) because most of their current fans would hate it and/or would show up and just be really confused by it.

Another example: That time I saw Kate Nash when she was coming off that one "rock" album after spending a bunch of time hanging out with FIDLAR. She mostly played songs from that record and everybody in the room was having the most miserable time ever except for me and my friend. Haha.

Honestly, it's kinda wild how good a run it was! And while I don't think it'll happen ever... I would be front of the line for an "early years" Goo Goo Dolls tour.

And Dizzy is just pop-rock perfection. Except for "Iris." That song makes me cringe.

I know they said the LA show is the only one... but fuck it would sick if AFI played Sing the Sorrow at Riot

100% sure Riot would still try anyway (and I'm not joking)

AFI 2013 riot fest in the mud is a top 10 set all time for me. Slipping and sliding and pitting and mud everywhere. What a blast

2013 AFI is when I met a middle aged woman wearing a diaper to camp out for AFI.

    It’s not just the younguns…

Yeah, I was gonna say. It kinda seems like this is the year that Knocked Loose are getting the "token punk/hardcore" slot on the bigger festivals. I could definitely see them popping up on Lolla.

Do they have a new album coming out sometime this year too?

Andrew McMahon tour in the spring/early summer jumps right over Chicago. Riot or Lolla? Or, dare I say it, SoCo at Riot...?

I’m really hoping for SoCo, Finch, and Say Anything crossing over from those other festivals.

Andrew McMahon at Lolla and Something Corporate at Riot would make a lot of sense. Though I'd imagine he'd just do one or the other.

    Hoping for SoCo at Riot!

Nofx announced a show in San Fran on Sept 16 (the Saturday of Riot).. doesn't necessarily rule them out, but I'm not optimistic

most likely takes them out of riot which is a bummer, but seeing the 2 nights in Columbus makes me glad for another possible punk in drublic/camp anarchy fest, i only went one year but it was a great time, and Columbus is drivable for me.

It's Camp Anarchy again if you go to the website it lists the initial wave of bands and what albums they're playing as well

Potato-potato but... I think it's Punk in Drublic this time around! It's gonna be at the same venue, though, which is pretty tight.

Really kinda wish it was any of their friends other than Pennywise in that top slot, though. Rancid or Bad Religion would be way more appetizing. As it stands, I'm kinda feeling like I might try to do San Diego in May so it's kinda irrelevant. LOL

(And whenever they do the east coast run I'll more than likely shoot for one or two of those too! I'm both super sad and really excited about it all.)

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I posted this in the normal tour forum, but something interesting to note is that on NOFX’s website, it states that their final show will take place in LA in October 2024. So unless this is a typo, it looks like they’re stretching this out for two years.

With that said, if they’re playing SF on Riot weekend this year, and if it’s true that the tour will go on until late next year, I’d put money on them playing Riot next year, as their final Midwest show. Not to mention next year is the 30-year anniversary of Punk In Drublic (holy shit)

Y'know, up until this post... I had convinced myself that this was all them just being sorta like "This is our last tour" and without saying this at the moment, knowing they were always kinda gonna play the occasional festival, etc.

But shit. Final show. Fuck. This is really getting to me. They are truly one of the few bands I kinda always figured would just keep going until they literally couldn't.

Agreed, I'm so sick of seeing Pennywise every time I go to a punk festival lol hope Rancid or BR get added as well. Also would love to see Flats on there. Souls is exciting already

They did Punk In Drublic at Riot already but if they get a 2 hour slot or something like I assume they would then I could see them playing it with something else maybe?
