This was posted on the DCFC/Postal Service thread and by the wording it seems Death Cab will also play with The Postal Service (?) If this might be the case, at Riot they can have a 1.45 or 2 hour set for them to play the albums back to back, like Against Me and TBS back in 2019
So I’m thinking DCFC at 7pm on the main. Then another band on the adjacent stage at 8pm. Then Postal Service at 9pm I just don’t see Ben running to the other stage to play another set or if he’s sharing the same gear for both bands. So that leaves an 8pm band. I vote Bright Eyes. Fill the undercard with The Faint, Cursive, and Jenny Lewis. Make it a destination fest for a certain generation of emo.
This is from a few days ago, but whoever runs the Riot Fest Reddit account seems to also have no idea where the festival is going to be held in 2023.
I run a Death Cab Facebook group and some woman in the group “met” Ben the other day at Rachel’s book signing (I put that in quotes because she’s met him a bunch of times) and asked him if they were playing Riot and he said “I cannot confirm or deny”. Even though it’s already very likely, he would have just said no if they truly were not haha.
What about LCD Soundsystem as a Saturday headliner? Death Cab into a support band into Postal Service into LCD would make a ton of sense.
Arguably too soon. But an album play would fully justify it! The fact that an album play from them is even in the discussion has me amped, hah! Would be kind of a lukewarm addition for me but... Would make perfect sense, be a big draw, and would work real nicely with the theming. I really like the idea of working in a bunch of the Saddle Creek-style "emo" and indie earlier in the day to round it out (e.g., Cursive, the Faint, Jenny Lewis). And there's plenty of younger bands they could add to the mix as openers too.
Part of my interest is directly tied to me listening to Sound of Silver a lot lately, haha, but definitely makes sense. Bright Eyes as that band between Death Cab and Postal Service would make a lot of sense too actually.
bone thugs into sublime is a great "never knew i wanted this til i saw it just now' 1-2 punch. and at read rocks? holy shit! (i finally made my first pilgrimage to red rocks 2 months ago, it was everything i wanted and more)
Bright Eyes, Dashboard Confessional/Further Seems Forever, Copeland, Elliott or Straylight Run . Any of them would be my picks for bands playing before DCFC/TPS
maybe its only because pantera, avenged sevenfold and tool are all different levels of rare/unique names lately, but this is the most interesting of any of the DWP line ups ive seen in several years - undercard still has tons of predictable stuff, but a few gems in there too) - i have zero clue who or what Hardy is. - Sunday is a sick line up, top to bottom
Yeah I’m really feeling this lineup. Thursday and Sunday both look very appealing to me. I hope we get some fun tours out of this one
Would love Deftones too. It's be about 5-6 years (?) since they played so I think they're due if they're out and about this year.
