glad my date has linda lindas, but bummed it doesnt have bloc party, never seen paramore except catching one song while i was walking from MIA to jawbreaker a few years back so im happy to catch this tour.
The dates on that tour routing have me convinced they're a lock for both Boston Calling and Lollapalooza. Probably a sub-headliner for both. Directly under whoever is at the top for that day.
They’re playing arenas this tour, I think they’re definitely headliner level (Bud Light), but we’ll see.
For Riot Fest? Sure. But probably not for Lolla, as far as I can tell. This is one instance where I would really love to be proven wrong. Band deserves every ounce of success they've been getting and then some. EDIT: This is also partially informed by their placement on ACL.
Paramore not being on the Riot lineup is for sure a bummer. A stage with like, Paramore, Carly Rae Jepsen, Japanese Breakfast, Camp Cope, and like Diet Cig or Illuminati Hotties or Charly Bliss or some smaller tier indie punk band opening would have been dope. I guess it still could happen with another female act, and you could throw a local act like Horsegirl on there as well, but I feel like Paramore would have been the catalyst to a stage like that happening. Not that women need to be singled out or anything, but a stage that highlights the female acts in the scene (and yes, also non-binary folks too!) would be a cool step in diversifying the lineup, or at least not just having one female act with a bunch of dudes playing before and after on the same stage. Also you can say that Carly isn’t part of the scene but I feel like she is one of the few pop stars who has crossover with the punk scene and would do really well at Riot Fest, especially since her show at the Aragon was extremely sold out and she’s not really a Pitchfork fave anymore. (Sure she could play Lolla again, but y’know, nothing wrong with throwing it out there)
They kinda did what you were suggesting last year on the Roots stage. Jimmy Eat World was the only band on that stage that was all dudes. And in general, last year felt much better in terms of representation than other years in that department. Certain years it felt like I was going stretches with just... Straight white dudes on-stage. As for Carly Rae Jepsen? I dunno, man. I think you're overselling how much crossover she has with the Riot audience. There's definitely some. But I really don't think it's as much as people are wanting it to be. Once you step away from the Internet it feels pretty non-existent.
Yeah I don’t think Carly Rae will ever play riot fest that feels like an enormous stretch and I am a fan
Carly/Punk crossover is an almost exclusive internet/RYM thing normal/majority festival goers there is minimal crossover.
When we were young: Nu-Metal Edition incoming, so far System Of A Down, Korn, Deftones, Incubus, Evanescence, & Chevelle attached https://www.theprp.com/2022/11/06/n...LZIZbaf05uqNGmw9uRoTKOjTWj1rm6IOlSxYPKdY7ZaQw
I’m down for this! Not nearly as many C and D list nu metal bands as I thought there would be, they spread it out to other genres pretty well
100 Gecs and She Wants Revenge stick out like sore thumbs on that line up. But there are a lot of bands I want to see from top to bottom. Not enough to go to Vegas in May but still.
legit wants - system, deftones, spiritbox, kittie, mr bungle, soulfly, AAF, she wants revenge, cant tell if legit wants or just ironic nostalgia - monster magnet, cold, orgy, hoobastank, coal chamber
Saw Orgy at Family Values in 1998, they were horrible... had no idea they were still together. I've seen them 3 times (Warped 01 and 2 local club shows) and they were always alright. Last saw them about 5 years ago at a local bar, they played all the hits so I can't complain.
saw her at Sub T the day before riot fest this year. Went in having only heard one song of hers and not knowing how I felt about it (I was just looking for something to do that night). She might have been the best set I saw the whole weekend. The energy was great and she’s a natural performer
Are we still thinking the festival is moving locations or nah? Could be related to that, like a rebrand.
If that logo means anything related to location, then it's doubling down on Douglass if anything. I'd guess formal announcement and early bird coming soon
