Question for y'all, how much disposable income would you need to buy the Deluxe package at Riot Fest? Like it's definitely a lot, but you're also getting a lot of cool stuff too?
Enough to also buy upgrades for a bunch of friends so we could chill in the lounge together. Hardly anything in the upgrade packages seems like it would improve how I want to experience the fest on my own. I don’t drink. Re-entry isn’t very useful at Douglass. I don’t need a massage. The bathrooms and snacks would be nice, but that’s about it.
Right now, my very reliable Apple Weather app says: Friday - Partly sunny, high of 77 Saturday - Partly sunny, high of 77 Sunday - Sunny, high of 79 Could be better but I will take it.
That thing about being sold out sends me back to that horrible day when MCR was headlining. That was awful.
Bearings is dropping off their coheadliner with Just Friends for another tour, but still playing Riot Fest.
Just had a major issue with our house and might not be able to make it this year. I'm devastated. Ugh.
Yeah I only went Friday last year and went home early because the festival was so fucking busy and crowded, but apparently Saturday and Sunday were WAY better because they weren't MCR days.
Did we ever actually confirm that? I just assumed it seemed busier because there were a glut of people who were timing everything (including eating dinner) around that band whereas most other days things were a bit more spread out. I remember that! I still feel badly that happened for you... My vibe for Friday was a bit skewed because my partner and I had been up since 4:45am traveling. So we were pretty wiped by the time MCR got on-stage. But I'd say that Saturday and Sunday were definitely less stressful and generally just had more of a "traditional Riot Fest" vibe to it people-wise than Friday. It was a bit of a culture shock for me seeing all of the "MCR is life" fans.
My girlfriend spoke with someone working the festival and they told her they sold over 60k tickets for that day. Hard to remember who it was or what line she was in exactly (I think merch line) but I remember they said something around 63k tickets.
Having gone since 2017, it was extremely noticeable that MCR had way way more people than I have ever seen. I left before they played but just moving around was annoying as hell
Yeah the MCR day was my least favorite day at RF, including in 2014 when it poured rain and was 45 degrees all day lol
Hi Riot gang, help me decide: Head Automatica or Frank Turner on Saturday? Some background: I only know like, 5 FT songs and I was into Popaganda and a song or two from from Decadence when I was a teen
Frank Turner is always a good time. Im in the same dilemma, as I have seen Frank several times before and Im sure it will be a fun set, but probs this will be my only chance to see Head Automatica
I’d do Head Automatica. Considering how poorly this reunion tour is doing, I’d say it’s unlikely they tour again after this year
My plan is Head Automatica until they play “Graduation Day,” then stay there if I’m feeling it or catch the back half of Frank.
I spun it the other day and I still think it’s the best on the album by a mile. I was actually surprised to see they don’t close every show with it.
I’m team Popaganda is mostly garbage but Decadence is a stone cold classic. Forget Frank he tours and plays the same set every show. Go see Daryl get down for the last time.
The Head Automatica tour hasn’t been doing that well from what I hear, so this is probably the chance to see them for the foreseeable future.
It all depends on your tastes. This is where the setlist would come in handy. If your primary driver is Popaganda? You're probably good to leave HA about halfway through and then go see Frank (a little more than that if you want "Nowhere Fast"). But like folks are saying, this could be the last swing for Head Automatica so... Make sure to see at least some of it. Frank Turner is consistently fun live for whatever that's worth, though. Especially at a festival sharing a stage with artists he's friendly with and/or fans of he tends to ramp it up and the between-song chatter is fun.
