Yeah, obviously not front rows, just hoping to get somewhere where i won't have to watch the screen the whole time. With the Cure running unopposed, probably most of the festival will go there...
Unless you skip (most of) Gaslight, get super lucky, or push through the crowd aggressively (not recommended), you'll likely be watching the screen for The Cure.
Looking like a bunch of partial sets and running around for me (but that's nothing new). Friday: Pinkshift, Parliament Funkadelic, Code Orange, Silverstein (partial), The Interrupters (partial), dinner and whatever the people I’m with at the time want to see in that block, Braid, Tegan and Sara, Foo Fighters Saturday: Pool Kids, Drain, Warpaint, Bowling For Soup, Corey Feldman (partial, for the lols), White Reaper, Spitalfield, Head Automatica (or maybe split with Frank Turner), dinner, Pup, Death Cab For Cutie (partial), 100 Gecs (partial), ICP (partial), The Postal Service Sunday: Thursday, Earth Crisis (partial), Balance and Composure, The Bronx, AFI, dinner/Finch, Gorilla Biscuits (partial), The Mars Volta (partial), Godspeed! (partial), The Cure I might miss the first few bands on Friday and most of the Cure for childcare reasons, but I'm still very excited for this year.
I already made a schedule for myself but I forgot to add time for getting food, eating it and making sure there's no show afterwards that I will have to get physical for
Yeah, Microwave played 40 minutes a few years ago and now it's reduced to 30. At least they are getting a stage upgrade.
same for saturday radical - the whole stage is whiplash but really culminates at The exploited directly into 070 shake, hahaha edit - there are two different versions of the schedule, the only difference I see is a 3 way rotation of the exploited, nothing nowhere, and rival schools. I’ll assume whatever is currently on their site is correct.
Makes sense set times are a little shorter cus they have all the headliners playing two hours or more (counting DCFC and Postal Service as one headliner split into two parts) And Foo Fighters and the Cure get practically no opposition during those 2 hour sets (I mean I realize there's someone playing during FF, but usually there is someone headlining Rise and/or Radical during the headliner)
Probably looking at some split sets (surprise, surprise), but overall pretty happy with this schedule. Friday Aquadolls/FEA Origami Angel P-Funk Just Friends The Interrupters Bayside Say Anything/Braid Turnstile Fake Names Saturday Total Chaos Cassyette Plosivs Bowling for Soup (heavy day drinking required) Rival Schools Spitalfield Frank Turner/Crass PUP Pennywise Queens of the Stone Age Mr. Bungle Sunday Hotline TNT The Smoking Popes Empire State Bastard The Black Angels The Bronx H2O Flogging Molly Gorilla Biscuits The Mars Volta/The Gaslight Anthem The Cure Realistically won't make it to more than 70% of those and finding times to eat may prove challenging, but I think this is shaping up to be a solid year.
Saw the posts about getting close for The Cure. If the setup is like last year, which I think it is, you can get a good spot during a headliner set on the main stages by going to the side that isn't being played on.
Pretty not fun that I can no longer go and the vip tickets are not transferable so I can’t try to sell the weekend pass
Wow. I'm glad I'm not going. Sunday would be such a killer. Afi, h2o, fogging Molly, finch.... all essentially the same time. Those are my favorites of the day lol. And then used v Mars volta Major yikes
It's crazy to me that the only "big deal" bands I'm missing are Tegan and Sara, LS Dunes, Finch, and Flogging Molly. Schedule was practically catering to me otherwise.
Not going but... Friday: The Aquadolls, Origami Angel, Parliament Funkadelic, Oso Oso, Just Friends (first ~15), the Interrupters, Quicksand, Braid, Turnstile, Foo Fighters (with a 30-minute Sludgeworth break) Saturday: Pool Kids, Drain, Snapcase, Corey Feldman, White Reaper/Rival Schools/High Vis, Head Automatica (first ~30), Frank Turner, Pup, Death Cab For Cutie (first ~30), Pennywise (first ~30), Queens of the Stone Age, Insane Clown Posse (last ~30) Sunday: Free Throw, Smoking Pops, Thursday, Fleshwater, the Bronx, H2O (first ~15), AFI, Gorilla Biscuits, Gaslight Anthem, the Cure Interesting how most of the stages aren't really all that "curated" this year except for the Root/Riots stages on Sunday which are clearly Cure-focused. Haha. I'm also pretty convinced that AFI were supposed to have that Dresden Dolls slot but didn't want to play the same time as Gorilla Biscuits.
make sure you are looking at the right version of the schedule , ive seen both of these out there. riotfest.org currently has the top one with exploited on Rise, so im going with that one.
Related to Saturday schedule. Yesterday Enter Shikari posted that Cassyette ia no longer coming to the USA with them, so probably she will drop from Riot too
The cluster of Yard Act, Oso, Code Orange, Silverstein, Just Friends and The Interrupters for me on Friday is the worst part of the schedule. But I should at least get to see a little of all of them White Reaper vs High Vis is brutal as hell and bummed about Pup vs. Eshu Tune but since I'm going to Pup aftershow I'll watch Eshu. Going to watch as much ICP as I can before Postal Service as that just feels like something you have to see Balance and Fleshwater is also brutal and makes no sense. Feel bad for Fleshwater as I'm sure mostly everyone will watch Balance. AFI vs. H2O also a bummer but going to hit the H2O show Saturday night so that's not as bad I guess. Gaslight vs. Used sucks, seeing Gaslight 2 days after and just saw them but will still probably watch them\ I definitely want to watch The Cure but I would have taken a little more of a spread out and watched their last half if anyone was playing during them
