Hopefully they play next year. This show replaces Ruido fest performance since that fest got cancelled
Microwave are not listed on the Menzingers show in Chicago, but I'm assuming that's just cus of Riot Fest and they'll be officially added after right?
Doubt this is the last of artists dropping out - this is the new inevitable normal Never saw Smoking Popes so I'm pretty excited. Alkaline Trio have dates all 3 days of Riot, so their mini-streak is over. TBS plays Northerly Island tomorrow, so they could be added next week
Rumor is a new Green Day album might be dropping next year. Still would be cool if Riot got them eventually. Next year or 2025 seems reasonable
And with the headliners this year, I think we can put to rest any argument that they are too big to play. So it really does feel like when will they play instead of if they will ever play Riot Fest.
Look if Green Day is coming to Riot 30th anniversary play of Dookie next year - first time in North America setlist.fm says album has been played 7 times in Europe Sassafras Roots by Green Day Song Statistics | setlist.fm
It will be the 20th anniversary of American Idiot. I would be happy if they play any of them, stoked if they do both
Gaslight Anthem finally announced their openers for their tour, and catbite joins them the date right after riot in cleveland. could be a possible replacement for someone mid/lower on sunday lineup if needed in a pinch (though they are in VA on the 16th..). and ive yet to see catbite so im excited they are on the STL date because with how loaded that sunday top line is, may have to sacrifice seeing GLA at the festival and catch the tour instead as they seem to be the only one from that top line coming to me.
For anyone that wanted poppy to be added she’s out. Playing the Vic September 8th. Show was just announced
Catbite getting added to Riot as a lower-tier act would be fantastic! I've been hyping this band since I first saw them back in 2019 with WATU and Kill Lincoln. They've come a long way since and it's awesome to watch. Really great people, high-energy live show... And doing something different compared to a lot of other ska bands. Can't recommend catching them live enough if the opportunity presents!
Just remembred that Josh Freese has played with 100 gecs live before, and he was the drummer on their new albim. The Foos doesnt have a show on 9/16, so it would be cool if he plays with them at Riot
Sludgeworth confirmed via Instagram today that they'll be closing out the Rebel Stage on Friday. Or as they put it: "the port-a-potty stage by the ferris wheel next to the guy that shit his pants passed out under a tree next to the girl that still thinks My Chemical Romance is playing."
I’ve said it for years. 2024 California takeover. Green Day playing Dookie & More on Friday. Green Day playing American Idiot & More on Saturday. Operation Ivy reunion & Final Chicago NOFX appearance on Sunday. Jawbreaker and Rancid sub headlining Friday & Saturday.
Helmet announced a tour this fall that starts in the Midwest a couple days after Riot. Would they potentially be in play if more artists are added? Or would Joliet constitute as the tour’s “Chicago show?”
