I catch part of The Armed set at Pitchfork last year and holy shit! I really want to see them again ever since
just got the QotSA presale for STL, couldnt pass up a chance to see viagra boys twice in 1 week. plus now i have cover if someone good is up against queens.
Another one. Teenage Wrist’s fall tour goes through the Midwest Riot Weekend but completely skips Chicago. Wonder if maybe they were in talks but fell through. I could see them playing with other shoegaze-adjacent bands they have playing Sunday with The Cure
i guess not for certain, i dont remember the origin of each band being added, i was just scouring all the different threads i could find and compiling. unless a member mentioned it specifically on social media my guess is people saw they are in Detroit on the 14th and itd make sense for just a short drive to Chi the next day.
Got ya.. I only ask cus I'm really worried about Pup conflicting with the top billed bands. Particularly Saturday with the QOTSA/Postal Service & Death Cab situation. I feel like Pup will probably play around 6 so I just don't want them to run into any of that. I'd be less concerned Friday so fingers crossed
a lot of those Teenage Wrist shows are at pretty small clubs, so I doubt there was any fall through with Riot.. more than likely they couldn't find anywhere in Chicago worth it to play that weekend between so much booked already (and we don't even have any real after shows announced) and Riot just promotes the Milwaukee show (I know Milwaukee makes no sense for any type of pre-show but they've promoted a few bands at the X-Ray Arcade) Coheed playing Radius (and touring an album play) on the 19th while LS Dunes are playing Riot a day or two before is a weird one though lol.. speaking of, add LS Dunes to Sunday (Coheed has dates the Friday and Saturday)
Should be noted that the areas of the park they say will remain open have been available for a few years now. That’s not new; feels more like typical mediocre Block Club reporting than anything making it sound like new changes. But, to be fair to the community, these are basically the same things Riot Fest has said every year. I would like to know if there has been any improvement.
from the article, any one know if they are referring to artists already on the poster? "The fest will also give a platform to West Side musicians. Betts and Herrera announced that three artists from North Lawndale would perform at Riot Fest but didn’t mention who they were."
Going back to this idea: Could be a "we're not telling you what day we're playing" but Bayside has Sept 15-16 listed on their upcoming shows graphic on Instagram right now. They're playing Massachusetts Is For Lovers on the 17th, but still could happen?
