Oh yeah, I thought Copeland was gonna be here. Hope that doesn't mean they're not doing a second leg of the BMT tour.
The Cure would’ve definitely done a second show in Chicago if Riot Fest wasn’t the plan. That show was almost impossible to get tickets to
The Walkmen are doing a three or four night residency at The Metro, so they were never going to play. I think Snail Mail is doing a couple nights here in the summer as well. Pavement and Bartees must have had better offers.
Yeah the fact that The Cure are doing 3 nights in LA, 3 nights in NYC, but only 1 night in Chicago seems suspicious looking back at the dates.
fun thing i noticed, there appears to be by my count 4 supergroups/side projects (the lines can blur bewtween those 2 distinctions) on this line up: LS Dunes (mcr, coheed, thursday, circa) Fake Names (refused, bad religion, girls against boys, fugazi) Plosivs (against me, rocket from the crypt, hot snakes) Empire State Bastard (Biffy Clyro, oceansize)
Don't forget Foo Fighters! (Nirvana, Germs, Sunny Day Real Estate, No Use For A Name, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes) /s
Me and my friends couldn’t get Cure tickets when they went on sale and have been hunting stubhub daily. This was the best case scenario. I thought it was strange we never got a second date while others did. Great lineup.
Wonder if there was a strict radius clause or something. Quite a few of these acts would be great Riot material, but none made the lineup
Silly question? For the cure fans out there. Is seeing them still cool? Like, are they still a good show based on their age and what not.
Chicago to Cincinatti is 260 miles, no radius clause like that would stand a chance in court Rami Jaffee is an official full time member so Wallflowers, too but that list will quadruple if it's true Josh Freese is the new full time drummer also technically the most supergroup band playing Riot hasn't been mentioned.. the current lineup of Mr. Bungle with the addition of Scott Ian & Dave Lombardo I still think a few bands/acts will get added closer to the festival (not including TBS or Gwar, possibly including Danzig) but probably not Pavement
He just dropped off the Danny Elfman shows like a week ago, and Offspring have a new full time drummer.. come to your own conclusions Multiple outlets like Variety are reporting it's probably going to be Freese as well From the beginning, I thought it'd be Freese and possibly Rufus Taylor until Taylor's son finishes high school
I mean, Freese makes a ton of sense. It could totally be someone else, but my money is also on Freese.
That was my exact reasoning. He was also absent from The Vandals’ show in San Diego over the weekend (which isn’t unusual and happens a lot but he didn’t have anything else going on that weekend that would’ve prevented him from doing it…) Also, Dave Grohl was at his birthday party back in January, apparently
Freese also played with the Foo at both Taylor tribute shows, and he has lot of mutual friends with Dave like Josh Homme.. they may have worked together on some projects, but off the top of my head I'm not sure (did some research: both technically worked on the Queen's Lullabies to Paralyze album and both are credited on Slash's 2010 debut solo album.. probably more) If Freese is the new full time drummer, I've done additional research.. it will be the 103rd band he's played with at Riot and he may do double duty with 100 Gecs if both play Friday, but not holding my breath
What happened with Danzig being on the website? I keep reading people say something but I couldn’t find the details. Was it on the poster? Or just the site?
