I feel Gatecreeper has certain appeal to the punk community, maybe just for their tour with Knocked Loose, but I might be wrong tho
Bring Me the Horizon and All-American Rejects both announced for some Emo Nite New Orleans weekend festival thing in late September. BMTH was already doing LTL the weekend after Riot. Not sure if this might make them seem more or less likely? IMHO, this makes AAR feel a bit more likely given that they were originally on the 2021 line-up.
Bone Thugs are playing Chicago July 30 I think at least one classic spot will be the Far Side (no Chicago date)
Sorry, but I don’t think this is affordable or possible. It’ll already be insane if we actually end up getting Bahuas as a non-headliner. There’s no way we’re also getting Paramore and Operation Ivy and them not headlining a night. Especially Operation Ivy. Also Ecostrike just broke up
Unfortunately, I learned nothing about whether or not Eve 6 or We Are the Union will be at Riot last night. Honestly, I think it would be cool for Riot to book them. It's their last run, supposedly they put on a live show, and I think the public perspective has shifted enough that folks would treat them kindly. Curious to see where they'd land too. Maybe second to last on Radical/Rise with a hip-hop line-up (maybe with BTNH as they're friends)? Or would they headline? I legit don't know how big they actually are. But I'd imagine between the Juggalos, with that probably being their final Chicago appearance, and the general curiosity they'd draw really well. Yes, please! That would be so much fun.
My official guesses for Sunday are: Alanis Morissette (headliner), Yeah Yeah Yeahs (sub-headliner) Jack White (headliner), Yeah Yeah Yeahs (sub-headliner) Sleater-Kinney (headliner), Yeah Yeah Yeahs (sub-headliner) Death Cab for Cutie (headliner), Jimmy Eat World (sub-headliner) The last one could be flipped (and maybe both are headliners so it would not work?)
Sleater-Kinney was third from the top last time they played Riot in 2016 and were probably bigger then.. also Carrie is directing a movie later this year.. and getting a day off set to play a festival is basically impossible
Has Riot Fest ever had a bona fide headliner play Chicago earlier that same year? As far as I can recall it was always their lone Chicago show of the year but I may be forgetting an act. I know subs have sometimes done it, but even that is pretty rare...
It seems Run The Jewels played Rosement in 2018. As mentioned above Weezer in 2018 too, altough both bands were last minute replacements. Slipknot last year is the same case, were they played Tinley Park a few weeks after Riot, but also they were last minute replacements The only other I could find is Modest Mouse in 2015, they played a club show a week before Riot.
The thing about Jack White is I know there are people who would not shell out $50+ to see him at a solo tour stop but would watch his set at a festival, so I think there's a "festival set" type demand for him.
So with the exception of last-minute replacements it hasn't happened in 5+ years. Pattern enough for me to consider any artist who has played Chicago already in 2022 as extremely unlikely.
