I'd rather hum personally, but apparently Superdrag are working on a new record.. fingers crossed tho
Interesting! I had a feeling something was up. Couldn’t help but notice they have an Instagram page now
of all the 90's alt-indie type bands, Superdrag is the one I would be least surprised if they just do their own little tour instead of playing a 45-60 minute set at Riot.. I know there was some issues with Evan cancelling Jawbox gigs, but the Lemonheads are currently back on the road doing a European tour playing a Shame About Ray.. and Riot sure loves their full album play bookings
If we crowdfund money I will go to the Eve 6 show and ask if they are on the lineup Not sure I would pay my own money to see them, although We Are The Union are opening and they are very sick
Tickets are probably like 10-15 bucks, do it for the good of the forum or wait like another 2 weeks, all the same
Before Covid they were going on tour with Alien Ant Farm and I was excited for that show. I didn't knew who Eve 6 was bacj then, but I do like AAF unironically. During that tour they were playing Horrorscope in full, so maybe they will play it at Riot?
IF they play Riot (and I mean, they probably are).. it'll be a 45 minute set max and they are gonna just play a random set that includes songs from the first album (i.e Inside Out) also even though I've seen them live 3 times (once at Warped) and they are playing Blue Ridge the week before, I wouldn't hate on Riot booking AAF... they are pretty cheap to book and will play the hits
This poster doesn't seem to have any existing posts in that thread... Except for a few you can still see because they were quoted by others. And each of those would tend to indicate that they have absolutely zero insider knowledge or connection with Riot Fest or anyone in the Operation Ivy camp (e.g., "Apparently OP IVY just reunited in LA two hours ago well Tim and Jesse performed sound system! Just saw the video on Facebook" ; "I see Sunny Day Real Estate on this lineup and they could be given the headlining spot but I hoping that’s not the case"). Looks like somebody making up shit to me, TBH. Much like the last one, this is pretty cool and feels pretty viable! I see a few placement things I'd switch up and I still think people are really overestimating Sunny Day Real Estate's draw and appeal in 2022 but... Yeah. Really cool!
I think it's a case where in Riot's world, billing a Sunny Day reunion as a top tier draw is bigger to them than basically any other festival... the guy on Reddit had them right before MCR and to me that made no sense (it's def either TBS or JEW).. to me it came down to Sunny Day vs Death Cab before SOAD or Op Ivy,and I know that makes no sense but I went SDRE
I have a love/hate relationship with this lineup. It is amazing, but I would be so tired from crisscrossing Douglass Park for three days.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs just announced two US shows happening in October Yeah Yeah Yeahs Announce Shows in New York and Los Angeles
Those venues are WAY too big for them. But if they're gonna be doing shows in the Fall, I can see them either subbing the main stage or closing a side stage at Riot.
Just because it's NYC and Los Angeles, I think the venue sizes feel appropriate for the YYY's. I would assume they'd be playing smaller venues in other cities.
The Pitchfork article also says they have new music coming this fall, which also strengthens the case for them at Riot. It gives Riot even more of a reason to have booked them.
For sure. I could also see them announcing these two shows, having the Riot date announced within the next couple weeks... And then a proper US tour a few weeks after that with Riot being one of only a handful midwest dates. Wouldn't be the first time a band did it that way.
None of that confirms YYYs will be at Riot . are they very high on the list as the possible 3rd headliner? Yes, but that's about it
Well I never said they were confirmed, I said it strengthens the case that they will be there, aka it raises the probability percentage
They had a strong case before, mainly because there's only so many bands left that are possible headliners... maybe go ask Eve 6 since they probably know
If we're going to say Sunny Day Real estate is likely because they said they would be reuniting for a "spring" tour this year (that hasn't been announced yet, BTW)... I think it's fair to put just as much emphasis (if not more so) on the Yeah Yeah Yeahs being likely when they have two dates in early October and a new album on the way.
