I feel the fell down since the allegations against their bassist. Last time they played Chicago they couldnt sold out the Aragon Ballroom even when they played arenas before
Helmet (they played 2011, the last year that was indoors) is opening for Korn at Tinley, so I'm guessing they are out
Definitely did a double-take when I saw that blurred out September date. Haha. Even though I kinda feel like these acts are out of Riot's wheelhouse, anyway... Yes, I know Testament played in 2019. But that doesn't really count because it was part of that final Slayer tour package.
This is @Mike Dust 81's idea, but since he hasn't posted it yet: What about Bjork? She's billed below Arctic Monkeys at Primavera Latin America, so she'd probably be viable. She's fairly active this year, with no current US dates... And ticks a lot of the boxes for a Riot act. Deep roots in alt-rock, integrity, hugely influential, etc. She would also be a nice balance to MCR and the Misfits headlining the other two days. And if you paired her with a solid headliner on Rebel/Rise that leaned a bit more rock (maybe even just straight-up heavy) it would work real well. And... It would come out of nowhere. Which Riot has a tendency to do with some of their headliners.
My brain is broken from years of following this festival. I keep expecting the first Bamboozle lineup announcement before the first Riot Fest announcement. Bamboozle is over a year away.
Only drawback is her Bjork's current show is like super artsy, and would honestly not work at all at Riot.. I saw her name on Primavera and I've thrown every band out there in the book trying to get a gauge on the third headliner.. if she does like a regular festival set then it's possible I think all but the one year that was a clusterfuck (2018), the latest the lineup (at least "first wave") was like May 18ish so I reckon it's going to be soon
Soul Glo are out as well, playing in Europe week of Riot. also I'm guessing whoever ends up as the opener for Metric's Chicago show can probably be ruled out as well.
I very much anticipate the announcement of the lineup. I have a feeling we’re gonna have so many “why didn’t I think of them?” bands on there
That's what happens every year! Haha. What I've found, though, is that's mostly because Riot tends to be the festival bands play before the fall/winter tour gets announced. So a lot of the "why didn't we think of that?" bands tend to announce stuff shortly after Riot. It's not the case with all the bands, but it's certainly the case for a solid chunk of them on the line-up each year. That and they have an amazing way of convincing certain artists to play. Not just the reunions but the "rare gets." I always think back to 2015 when they had No Doubt, System of a Down, the Prodigy, and Modest Mouse on years where none of them had announced much of anything for that year.
any body splurging on the livenation concert week sale that starts monday? If i can get them all, im definitely buying for wu-tang/nas, zombie/mudvayne, and my wife wants to see The Chicks, and probably also Jack White, but i just wish i knew if he was our 3rd headliner or not... depending how cheap i feel monday may also snag black keys or modest mouse
for what city/venue for the Jack White show that you want to go to? is what I meant lol I'd say go for it either way... if he is the 3rd headliner, I think they'll be able to stack that day with some other names that would be considered big for Riot if that makes sense
its happening all over, in mostly ampitheaters but a some arenas and theaters as well, youd have to check your local area to which venues/shows are available Live Nation Concert Week - $25 All In Tickets - May 4 Through May 10
Cue Internet idiots freaking out when they don’t announce it next Monday. F’real, though. An announcement next week would be cool.
It doesn’t narrow a day down but maybe that’s why they have posted the “it’s gonna be may” gif twice, lol
Saw Mastodon at The Riv last night and they said twice (both Troy and Brann) "we will be back soon" so I'm thinking they're a lock.
That would make sense. They have LTL and FF the weekend after. I've lost track of where they are at as a band. Would they be a closer for Radical/Rise or the stage opposite the primary headliner? Misfits would make sense if it were the latter...
