Probably not. Historically, Riot is pretty picky about the metal they book (and it usually errs "softer" than Cradle). Beyond that, the tour starts and ends in May so it really wouldn't have any impact on anything. If Danzig were touring with them in September it might be a different situation... But probably not.
If you're gonna book black metal for Riot, you can fucking do a hell of a lot better than Cradle of Filth.
Riot tends to book metal acts that: - Have a gimmick (GWAR) - Are of the "thrash" or "crossover" variety (Anthrax) - Are critical darlings (Deftones, Mastodon, Incubus, SOAD) - Metalcore that Warped Tour used to book (and that's increasingly rare) Am I missing anything? I'm almost positive I am, and there's always outliers but... Generally, I think that's the bulk of it.
Legend status acts (cant find a better word to describe it) like Slayer and Motorhead. Also, not sure where NIN or Slpiknot would fit
I kinda don't really consider Motorhead metal so much as just a hard rock band... And Slayer definitely fits in the thrash/crossover realm. And y'know, I almost just put "punk-friendly" metal bands. Motorhead, Slayer, Deftones, SOAD, GWAR, and Anthrax all fit in that category. NIN would be in that industrial realm and don't really qualify as "metal" for me. And Slipknot would be in that nu-metal category... But I also question whether or not they even count at this point, just because they were a last-minute replacement.
Limp Bizkit are in Europe until at least Sept 12.. and they have a Chicago area show May 21 doesn't rule them, but I'd say they on the fence and I know it was a joke post or something, but Korn is playing Tinley in August
lots of bands have some shit lyrics, hell even my beloved avatar of glassjaw have almost an entire debut album i wont really put on because they are such young immature lyrics, but i still love them (worship and tribute 4 life!) and theyve talked about growing since then. i think it mainly depends on are they still beating that drum or acknowledged past missteps
the newest attempt at a mock on Reddit... not a horrible attempt, but a lot of his lineup is all over the place and some of the bands are ruled out
Glassjaw immediately comes to mind, for me too. I think the difference is - they've reckoned with it (though it's weird to do an album play of that record, TBH). I don't recall Durst ever saying "sorry I spent the early 2000s slut-shaming female pop stars and writing lyrics that were aggressively anti-woman." And I think that's the difference. LB isn't beating the same drum but it's in their entire discography with the exception of the latest record and they've never really decried the behavior either, as far as I know.
the 'talonsalight' one? if so yea its probably my favorite one on there even with some errors.. i dont really think they will wind up being super correct, but it did inspire confidence thats theres still tons of great picks out there.
