There's usually at least one Red Scare band on the bill, and maybe No Trigger will be a bit more active this year with a new release and a record label behind them but... Kinda feeling like they'll hit up Chicago the one time and call it. Would be an incredibly sick add, though! Them and/or A Wilhelm Scream would both be killer adds for Rebel or early on Radical/Rise.
Not that there's usually a lot of crossover, but that Osheaga line-up puts some of the low-key headliner predictions into play, right? Arcade Fire, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and A$AP Rocky. I think the first two would make strong Sunday headliners. A$AP would be cool too, but maybe as a co with somebody else a bit more Riot-leaning.
Damn yeah Wilhelm and Trigger playing already in June kind of puts them out slightly but I would love if they both played
Not sarcasm. It wasn’t on the map or the schedule so you kinda had to stumble upon it, but it had its own daily schedule printed on a piece of paper at the entrance of the tent. it was between the merch booth at the front entrance and the Ferris wheel area. I saw Frank Iero and Microwave both do maybe 20 minute sets in there. Iirc, Andrew WK also played it but I missed his set. I’ve tweeted @ riot fest and posted on Reddit before about wanting it back, but I doubt it happens EDIT: I just looked it up and it was officially called the “Stub Hub Soundstage”. Looks like they also had it in 2015 but those were the only two years of it.
Thanks for the info, I legit don't remember seeing it.. but I only went the Friday and 2016 seems like it was 20 years ago lol
Slightly related: The new A Wilhelm Scream album is straight fire and the new No Trigger single is a banger. It's a great day to be into melodic punk rock from Massachusetts. And if you had told 19 year-old me in February 2004, when I was seeing both bands for the first time at a VFW Hall in the middle of Western Mass, that I'd still be losing my shit over their music nearly 20 years later I'm not sure I'd have believed you. But here we are
Really interesting topic I think we've talked about on this thread a fair amount. Thought y'all might enjoy: https://www.theringer.com/music/2022/4/15/23026326/festival-font-size-coachella-poster-joyner-lucas
Yeah I was genuinely surprised. I thought Riot would get them this year. We’re really grasping at straws for who’s playing this year haha
Dang :( Glad I catch their show earlier this month, but I was really hoping to see them again at Riot
Is this pretty much what we know at this point? Friday My Chemical Romance Saturday Misfits Sunday ... Confirmed (or pretty much) Greta Van Fleet (maybe) Bauhaus Tenacious D Alexisonfire Placebo Midtown
Vampire Weekend/yeah yeah yeahs would be a cool Sunday. I feel that the third headliner will be a heavier leaning band but I have no idea who.
To be fair, we say that every year. Haha. And that's kinda the beauty of Riot Fest. They always pull bands that aren't doing the festival circuit, and in quite a few cases, aren't really touring all that much. Last year, for example: Devo, NOFX, the Lawrence Arms, Hepcat, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Body Count, the Bollweevils, the Bled, and I'm sure a few others were all "active" to one degree or another. But in most cases it was one of maybe like, 3-4 shows the band did all year. There's always a bunch of "Well, didn't see that coming" surprises on the line-up. And most of those are what really drive my decision to go or not.
Lookin great so far! Is Greta Van Fleet still in play? Cant remember if they still have open dates during Riot weekend
Robber puts gun to CTA rider's head, steals belongings on Pink Line train Stuff like this makes me re-think taking the CTA to RF or anywhere ever again
Totally understandable, but thankfully there'll be a LOT of people on the pink line on the way to and from Riot all day each day, which I'm assuming will deter crime.
