  2. The other night I did some aimless airbnb/hotel & flight searching for next year...
This will probably once again be my only festival and my only plane travel of the summer :)

Pavement is out. Playing Chicago on 9/22.

Bummer. Was really hoping they’d be that 3rd headliner

Guess that means they’re out for Lolla, AND Pitchfork too

This is perfect. The Cure can just go ahead and confirm that Sunday headliner spot for me lol

Fuck, this new Limp Bizkit album SLAPS. Now I want them on Riot even more than before

The problem with people is that they're only human

    Here's a wild guess: Evanescence

The two wildest possibilities would be Fall Out Boy playing TTYG or Cork Tree in its entirety or somehow convincing the original Panic! at the Disco to get together to play A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. The former is unlikely, the latter may be downright impossible

FOB had their chance to do TTTYG for its 10 year when they headlined in 2013 but they didn't :(

  10. A US run of this would be delightful.

Evansecence, Limp Bizkit, and the rest of the 2000-2003 nu metal/active rock WimmerFest brigade will never be on a Riot Fest poster.

It's been nearly a decade since they moved this shit outside and started booking bigger acts... And you can count on one hand the number of similar acts who have played over the years that are in that same ballpark. And each of them has an aesthetic differentiator, history with and/or public respect for the "scene," that makes them more palatable to the Riot Fest crowd.

And I'm pretty sure they've tapped all of those acts at this point. Slipknot, Deftones, System of a Down, Rob Zombie, and Incubus all have very different vibes than most of that stuff.

Franz Ferdinand at Riot would be amazing! Been hoping for bands like them and Kaiser Chiefs for years

  13. ha I posted this in the wrong thread but that would actually be pretty amazing!

Still kinda surprised we haven't seen Franz Ferdindand or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs pop-up on the line-up yet.

Same. Either band would be super sick!

    I think it’s Riot’s turn for YYYs

Saw Wolf Alice yesterday in Chicago. They would be a cool addition to the line-up!

PUP’s spring tour is hitting Chicago on April, BUT… I think that should still put them in play for next year!

  18. The schedule definitely facilitates hitting a lot of festivals after tour..

Would love to see Pinkshift grow in '22 too.

Feel like Pup is a shoe-in for Riot 2022 given the timing of the spring tour and the fact that they cancelled 2021.

Beach House pretty much out, playing Radius July 13

Them & PUP are playing pretty extensive tours, so it's not the end of the world if they don't play Riot this year.. I always hope more for bands that don't really tour much like a Hepcat or Go-Gos or Jawbox, but that's just me

edit: ok, I hope for all of you that are gonna miss PUP on their next tour that they get booked for Riot, but I stand by my point I think lol

Still bummed that Jawbox, PUP and All-American Rejects didn't play this year. Crossing my figners for 2022

Jawbox is showing up on European festivals next year, so I wouldn't be shocked if Riot re-booked them..

I like a mix of regular touring acts and "don't play shows very often or ever"-type acts. The rare gets are what usually tip the scales for me in terms of whether or not I want to go, though.

Operation Ivy reunion rumor update. Jesse Michaels on the latest episode of Turned Out A Punk. After spending about three minutes talking about how Warped Tour is definitely not his shit (while acknowledging its importance in terms of spreading music to kids who may not have heard it otherwise)...

Then Damien jumps right into saying "it's weird to go to them" and talks about how he sang a song with Rise Against at Riot Fest. But doesn't namecheck the festival it happened at.

This all means absolutely nothing except that it means he's thought about it or is currently thinking about it. Hah.
