Anyway, enough with the silliness. The Rolling Stones don't have a Chicago date on their European run and that tour ends in July. Riot Fest maybe?
i thought this was a brainstorm not a blame storm. just posting interesting tour info i find, damn. i didnt think the vibe at a ringo show would be too different from the elvis costello / jerry lee lewis / even morrissey's of the world, but i guess thats not the case.. and yea hes a beatle but hes also playing casinos in new buffalo michigan instead of baseball stadiums. sorry for the derailment, lets get back to discussing the intricacies of avril
I was just messing around, sorry! To me, at least, Ringo is a far-cry from any of the acts you mentioned. I mean, did the Beatles influence alternative rock? Sure. But only so much as they are the pop music equivalent of oxygen. With Elvis Costello and Morrissey, I think it's a more direct and specific line. A good rule of thumb, looking at all of the old posters is that Riot has a strong tendency to not book acts that could loosely be considered "classic rock" unless there's crossover into the "alternative rock" world (Cheap Trick, Blondie, and Elvis Costello being key examples).
On a serious note, I saw Ringo back in 2013 and it was kind of dissapointing, he only performed 4 Beatles songs (I get it, he only sung in 11 songs, but he not even performed Octopus Garden!). The singer of his band is the dude from Toto, and they did performed Africa tho. I just checked their last setlist from 2019 and its still basically the same thing. If we talked about 60's bands from the UK, I can see The Who playing Riot as they are really influential on Punk music, and probably not as expensive as a Beatle.
I don't think Ringo is as crazy as you guys are acting. I'm not saying I think it's going to happen but it would be kind of an interesting name to have on there and I don't think it'd be the weirdest artist they've booked.
Iration & Atmosphere don't have a Chicago date on their summer tour, one or both very logical for Riot..
I would absolutely love this… except faygo in the middle of day and being sticky all night. I’ve been to over 30 clown shows… so it’s a genuine concern
Unrelated but the Village People was one of my fav sets in 2019. What other off the wall pop acts have played in the past? And who's next??
Off-topic, I got a ticket for Jawbreaker show for $7 on Seatgeek, if anyone wants to go to their Chicago show tomorrow, now its the time!
I'd like to order all of this to Riot except please swap Fred Armisen for Kyle Kinane. Please and thank you.
Right?! My fiancé has a lot of family in the Philly/Jersey area so I might suggest a trip out to see the ol' in-laws for late Sept.
Only if he brings Dave Grohl, Bill Hader, and Ashton Koocher. Otherwise, I want a set of Kinane stepdad guitar centering and discussing the Chicago Mothman and Italian beef for at least 30 mins.* * I realize this is a very niche request and nobody else wants it. *
Casual reminder that Fred Armisen is an abuser and should really be nowhere near our music scene in any way, shape, or form. Exhibit A. So nah. Fuck him. Gaslighter, liar, sociopath, etc. If he were the singer of a D-tier New Found Glory rip-off band people would be calling for his head on a stick. EDIT: I assumed this was common knowledge but discovered last week that this zilch has done a remarkable job of covering up his creepy behavior.
Yeah I'd heard he was a vaguely shitty guy but didn't really know any specifics beyond that. I stand by my Kinane replacement request. If we're talking the album and not just the song, I'd watch the shit out of this.
And I now have my fingers crossed for Audio Karate and Tsunami Bomb. Also, legit lol'd at there being a band called The Butts.
