GFV, Avril, Alanis, Operation Ivy are all in play. Who else can we speculate for Sunday?

I have it down to about 10 artists (and some are out of left field), but it could literally be someone no one has mentioned

GVF & Avril are not headlining if they play.. I'd also be shocked if it was Alanis

What are people's thoughts about the potential for Paramore on Sunday as either a proper headliner or co?

With a new album in the works and the WWYF appearance not being billed as an "exclusive" I really feel like they might wind up on the bill. Obviously, it all depends on how a tour routing shakes out...

But I could see them as a co-headliner. 311 / Paramore as two big font names on Sunday would really round out and balance the line-up out a bit.

You still get the same effect with the current layout. They're just across the field from one another rather than next door. You could still do a stage with punk/hard rock acts and another with darker, more indie/new wave/whatever leanings. I'm not sure what the rest of the bands might be, though.

GVF would make sense for Music Midtown. I'd love for them to not be on Riot. It just feels super likely given the current tour routing. So it's "whatever" for me too.

I totally forgot 311/Paramore. Both make sense and seem more realistic.

I love Paramore and I would love seeing them at Riot again, I camped all day for their show in 2017. Personally I dont see them as headliners, but I would be stoked if they are in the lineup!

They played opposite Jawbreaker, could play opposite Misfits.. no way they put Bauhaus on the same time as Misfits

until they announce something that rules them out, im calling my shot for the 3rd headliner as being Muse. some think they are too big, but i think their stock may have fallen the last few years and who knows, maybe riot has upped their budget too, but either way muse has a new album at the end of august with no tour announcement yet besides a bunch of european one offs in may-july... but mostly i pick them because i really want them there, haha

My logic as positioning them as a potential headliner is the fact that they're billed as a co-headliner at WWYF and the time away from playing shows. It's been a long while.

Maybe I'm wrong and they're not quite at that level yet. But I would have imagined the time off would push them up into that tier. Not permanently, necessarily, but at least for the first go-round. I may be overselling them, though.

i thought they were pre-jawbreaker up against MIA (where i was at) and prophets of rage, who all ended at the same-ish time for the jawbreaker finale

No reason for the speculation and just wishful thinking but my dream 3rd would be The Cure. Doubtful it happens but I guess crazier things have.

If it was Paramore I'd be so so happy. I think they'd pretty easily be the proper 3rd headliner if they played. It seems like they've quietly picked up steam since 2017. It's been 5 years since they've released anything and their streaming numbers are still very solid, plus this whole emo revival thing. 2017 was kind of a weird time for them going through yet another lineup change and then taking a risk with After Laughter. But they seem solidified as a band now and it's kind of hard for me to imagine they're not given the top spot.

WIth a new album out, you kinda gotta figure a US tour is in the works after all that European stuff too, right? I could see a fall tour with a Riot date.

That would be such a bummer of a pick for me but it would be something that's Riot-leaning that would appeal to a big demo from the MCR base... And people who like rock/pop in general.

I thought for sure it was gonna be Green Day, so I'm not even going to attempt a guess as to who it may be lol

    Avril into Paramore against 311.

    Well, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy

Idk if it’s been shared, but Cake has two shows in the PNW in August, which I guess signifies that they’re active and playing shows again. They would be a fun add for Riot

I think if Avril plays, they'll put her or Paramore against the Misfits bc it gets two different large crowds onto the grounds

Just curious, who are the 10 artists you think it might be? I’m really curious to see what “out of left field” acts people think are possible

I really want Danny Elfman. I know he can’t headline but maybe close a stage. That’s my biggest want at the moment.

Arcade Fire, No Doubt & Op Ivy are my out of left field.. I'd throw in Blink 182 with Mark & Tom, but I think that'll be more likely next year

I'll only say the rest of my list are bands that have played Riot before in some form (minus 2 acts, but both I think have been mentioned several times either here or reddit)

Also it should be noted, I'm wrong a lot

I stand by Riot not wanting to "waste" another major reunion in 2021. Something that was more of a hiatus (Gaslight, Paramore) or bands who don't tour so much anymore (System of a Down, Arcade Fire) could make sense but...

I just don't see them bringing on Operation Ivy or Blink-182 with Tom for this year if the option is available to have them in 2022 instead. There's only so many "big deal" reunions left and the MCR one, particularly when coupled with the Misfits (still a "rare get"), is clearly doing very well for them.

By the time WWYF/Riot rolls around, it will have been over four years since they played a show. I think that would give them a little extra sizzle. Plus, I think they were/are very formative for the younger audience that might be in town to see MCR and they definitely fall into the obnoxious "it wasn't just a phase/I'm an elder emo" demo. I think they could pull it off.

I also completely agree with this. If Op Ivy reunited and played Sunday, I think Riot would just shut the whole thing down. Who else could they get that would top those three headliners? Lock Jeese in for '23 and let the good times roll on.

I've honestly convinced myself Op Ivy will never reunite, but I had to come up with 10 bands and there was no rule that one couldn't be a pipe dream lol.
