sad for me, epic for The Beths and the individual date lineups are gr8 all across the board https://www.hereandtherefest.com/ Also love that she seems to be having Japanese Breakfast headline/coheadline the closing date w/ Bedouine and Arooj Aftab, which is a hell of a show no matter the order. (edit, looks like coheadline, as JB is billed below Courtney on another date)
can you tell me who is on the STL date? my work computer will not allow that website for some reason.
Y'know, reading the tweets from Riot Fest. Did they delete one that said "you'll get the line-up the same time as usual" or am I making shit up in my head?
They definitely tweeted it at some point... I guess it was silly of me to think I wouldn't spend late March/early April salivating for this lol
Oh, I know they've tweeted it in the past. Haha. I felt like I read it today, though. Like a few hours back. Could be wrong. Either way. We're getting there... Slowly but surely.
I'd say he lacks self-awareness, but that brilliant idiot knows exactly what he's doing. The discourse is getting tiring. Like, the people who claim he's going to bring about a legit "pop-punk resurgence" are wrong. The people acting shitty toward people who aren't into this current "wave" because of how insincere it all feels ("Whatever, it slaps!") are just as mean and lacking in care as the people kicking and screaming about how "unpunk" he is (most of whom have usernames like NFGboi182 or GreenxJayx1998). But getting mad at MGK for being himself is like getting upset about the tiger that kills a person who falls into their enclosure at the zoo. The discourse itself is tiring to watch. But hot damn, is it an interesting study in sociology watching people react. (Okay, now that I've written something that reads like "walking study in demonology." Now I'm gonna be thinking about a Hole reunion at Riot Fest the rest of the day.)
In my experience, once you get to the point where you think “okay, there’s NO WAY the lineup doesn’t get released today” you’re approximately a month and a half away from actually getting a lineup
Ok this is mock #1.. I literally put a list of 90 bands in spreadsheet (which seems to be the average) and put bands we either know are playing/probably playing/my pipe dream/and I'm horrible with newer bands that would be lower tier, besides MCR, Misfits, & Bauhaus (the defacto #3 for now) everything else is just alphabetical since I don't think it's fair to do a daily lineup without knowing the actual third headliner I honestly just want my mock to end up somewhat close to the final lineup, so please suggest changes (ie I know Soccer Mommy is in Europe, replace them with the Smoking Popes or something) but don't completely shit on my lineup (or shit on it if you want)... it's a work in progress also, I ask this more than anything.. don't post this on reddit.. use it to create or edit your own lineup fine, but this is a very very rough draft
I would lose my mind for this. It throws me off in alphabetical cuz some heavy hitters at the bottom, but yea, this would make me upgrade to deluxe, only note on a band is chocking victim seems doubtful with the current allegations against stza
Yeah that was a late addition to my list, and last I heard Star Fucking Hipsters had listed tour dates this year so I didn't realize the allegations.. so yeah, gonna remove that one for #2, appreciate the response Also when Riot Fest would announce their entire lineup before doing it daily, some of the band placements were all over the place... so I cheated and just went with the alphabetical list
ABSOLUTE SHIT. Just kidding. This is awesome! If this is anything near what Riot’s lineup ends up being, then this year will rule!
I was literally just thinking Wheatus would be fun at Riot BUT... Do they have any other songs other than Teenage Dirtbag?
Easily the most reasonable/likely mock I've seen this year. I'm sure the lower-card acts will be some shit we've never heard of in lieu of what's here but... The rest seems pretty reasonable with a few exceptions (Phil Anselmo and AJJ just feel unlikely to me due to not being the best fit; not huge swings but I dunno...Just feels like there's more Riot-oriented metal and indie-pop acts they could squeeze in). Also: Unrelated to nothing but I think Eichlers would be a really sweet addition to this year's festival. Especially if they book some ska. It's effectively hyper-pop ska done really well with loads of nods to the third-wave, pop-punk, etc. Album dropped tonight and it's super fun.
That people at large care about? Not really. Haha. I feel like people know their Erasure cover. But other than that, not really. I still enjoy them unironically, TBH. Solid power-pop.
