interesting tidbit from a reddit comment that i just went and verified - at some point, seemingly recently, they halted ticket sales and put this on the top of the ticket page. guess we will have to see what their definition of 'soon' is.
This will be my first riot. Hopefully soon means soon. Would they really want tickets not on sale for months? I thought I saw people say the lineup is usually announced early May.
I'm assuming that means sales are going gangbusters. I'd imagine having two of the three headliners locked in has made things a bit smoother, coupled with more artists being willing (and eager) to tour/play shows at this point. Getting the line-up in April would be super helpful for me in terms of plotting out my year.
itd be interesting to know how many ppl bought 3 day passes simply because its MCRs chicago show, and there werent any single days (that i know of) for them to buy but they have 0 interest in the other two days.
An early announcement this year would be great. Wishful thinking on my part: Maybe they're timing it with the Gaslight Anthem announcement?
The timing is really wishful thinking, but I'm pretty in on the idea of TGA as the third headliner now - presumably less money/spectacle than MCR and Misfits, but a huge deal to the core Riot Fest crowd. Plus someone in the TGA thread hinted at their shows being in September.
Oh, believe me. I have a whole "prediction" as to how the next run of Gaslight shows are likely to play out centered around that September bit that person dropped. Haha. FWIW, Brian Fallon just tweeted that tomorrow would be a big day for him (with a reason that was very clearly a joke). And now it looks like maybe a run of album play shows so... That'd be perfect for Riot. I'm not sure Gaslight is quite straight headliner material. But they would be a solid co-headliner with another artist! (Or first on the second line. Either way, that'd get me to the festival for sure!)
Yeah, pair them with Bauhaus or Paramore at the top of the poster for that day (but please don't have their sets overlap) and that's a really solid top line for the whole festival.
FWIW, Riot’s Twitter has been ramping up their usual “lineup announcement” banter. Maybe it’ll be early!
If The Gaslight Anthem were the third headliner, it would be pretty funny that all three headliners were reunited bands from New Jersey.
The one year they dropped it super early, if I recall, it came with little to no advanced warning either. I'm not expecting something tomorrow but... Hopefully whatever Gaslight is teasing gives us an inclination as to whether or not they may be in the mix (e.g., "more shows announced soon" from them with no midwest dates would be a hint, for examples).
Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I feel like most years some of those responses are “The same time it always does”, which I didn’t see when I was just looking through their tweets.
