That Lolla line-up is way more appealing than I thought it would be. Top to bottom. Weird to see Jane's Addiction quite literally at the bottom of the poster. Stunned Avril isn't on this. Maybe Riot is in play, after all. Still think it'd be a weird as fuck booking that would be beyond embarrassing. But it might happen.
they really beefed up on rock music this year. metallica AND green day is pretty rad. idles, turnstile, maneskin, royal blood regrettes, Macnchester orchestra, dashboard, blackstar kids, meet me at the alter (who seem out of place on the bottom row, i thought they were getting popular??..) and completely out of nowhere - lorna shore, haha
Jane's Addiction at the bottom is the equivalent of Coachella putting Swedish House Mafia at the bottom as the *big exclusive set*.
with no respect whatsoever for whether there were other conflicts or they never had a chance to be at riot in the first place, i am currently experiencing mild "shucks" feelings for: Green Day, Billy Strings, IDLES, Turnstile, Girl In Red, 100 Gecs (i guess lol), Denzel Curry, Willow, Maneskin, ManOrch (really thought they'd be there this year), Cordae, Dashboard, Beach Bunny, MUNA, Wet Leg (we knew this though right?), Wombats, Royal Blood, Regrettes, Audrey Nuna, Pom Pom Squad, Buffalo Nichols, Daisy the Great, and MM@tA Overall though, adding in the filter of non-starters and bands that have played Riot recently, I'm not really mad.
I don't think we can forget just how much Andy loves and devotes to Riot and his Riot experience haha
I'm not sure what this is meant to mean? But it's weird to make it personal like that. If she winds up on the bill it wouldn't affect my enjoyment in the slightest.
I didn't mean it personally in a negative way -- you're just clearly the person with the most committed idea of what Riot's identity is and you talk all the time about that and how you make the fest your big vacation etc, meaning it's higher stakes for you and a bad booking could reasonably be embarassing in your eyes. Is that not accurate...?
It definitely felt kinda personal. Regardless, you aren't wrong. I definitely have an idea in my head of what I think Riot looks for in an act and what they are likely to do or no to do. I've definitely invested way more time than most in looking at past line-ups to see what patterns there are, etc. But that's more out of curiosity than anything. At the end of the day, I don't have much invested in it. If the line-up is cool, I go. If it's not cool, I just book another trip somewhere else. But it's jarring to see that's not how it comes off. I need to work on that, I guess. Hah.
Not necessarily, they are skipping several major cities they played last fall (Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Atlanta, Vegas)
I would literally not care if Avril is at Riot because I could literally just...go watch another set or leave early. (Though I would personally watch her set)
My biggest take away is no Pup and by the time Riot is announced their headliner here will be over, so I'm really crossing my fingers
I'm pretty sure Riot and Pup made a handshake agreement to reschedule to this year I'm pretty sure several bands that had to pull last year will be back this year (sans NIN)
Well, Green Day doing Lolla this year still makes me somewhat optimistic that they’ll do Riot eventually. Weird billing for Jane’s on that poster… But I guess that means they’re out for Riot too Also, I for sure thought Pearl Jam would be on Lolla since they have no Chicago date on their upcoming tour. But hey… Riot maybe?…
