From the top of my head I remember Tenacious D, Placebo, Greta Van Fleet and now Alexisonfire as very likely. Maybe Midtown too?
I have to miss the Flats’ Chicago show so hoping they are in still in play. I don’t think mid-June puts them too far outside.
What venue would an AOF aftershow be in? Concord and Metro would not be large enough, I'm thinking. Would the Aragon be a good fit? Are they too big for an aftershow?
Radius probably. It’s bigger then both concord and metro but smaller than Aragon in terms of capacity
That is a clusterfuck of artists. Haha. But yeah, I think all are pretty likely. Might as well add Thursday and Homeless Gospel Choir to the list too, as they're opening the MCR dates just after Riot Fest. I'm going to go ahead and assume that if GVF and Tenacious D are both actually playing that they'll wind up on the same stage.
Weird dark horse of a Chicago reunion that might pop-up this year: Showoff. They're still actively practicing and have been slowly but surely uploading a bunch of old demos, rarities, etc. onto Bandcamp.
He was scheduled to play Chicago in January and canceled. Other than that, his current tour schedule goes through June. I'm really curious if a a Gaslight reunion would be big enough to be the third headliner. If not, definitely the second highest billed on their day.
I feel like they'd be second highest billed on their day. Other alternative would be a "co-headline" with another decently sized band for Sunday (similar to what they did in 2018 and 2019). But I'm also still operating under the theory that Sunday is going to be two "medium-big" acts rather than one "big-big" act.
Are there any hints about a Gaslight Anthem reunion? I thought they were done for good after The 59 Sound anniversary tour. Dont give me hopes like that.
Their web site, Twitter, Facebook, etc. have all been updated to the same maroon color. Current thoughts are it has something to do with the Sink Or Swim 15 year anniversary.
Gaslight Anthem is a band I havent seen live and though I would never be able to see them play, so these posts bring me so much joy
Scene Law states that all bands popular on this site (and AP.net) that break up will reunite at some point if they are physically able. I bet you'll get to see em.
They never really broke up, I think Brian said they are basically on a hiatus with no plans for new music but the occasional tour like they did for the 59 Sound in 2018
Franz Ferdinand is out. I really think bands like them, Kaiser Chiefs or The Vaccines would be so much fun at Riot
Same weekend as Riot (and sea hear now fest) so unless Cage the elephant is doing 3 fests in 3 days in vegas, chicago, and new jersey, then they are probably out. i dont recall the overlap history between LiB and riot but these (very few) rock bands/rappers could be in play if they can make the trip. gorillaz would be a sick 3rd headliner, and id also take grandson, marc rebillet, shaggy, or pussy riot..
